Who is the current today's Islam leader?

Muslims follow the Quran and the Sunnah. Quran is the sacred book that God has sent to Earth and Sunnah is the ways of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him. If the followers of Islam are seeking for the answers (ie. what to do if such and such happened) that are not mentioned during the time of Prophet, peace be upon him... there are Islamic scholars who have the high possibility answers according to the Quran, most likely and that they thinks is correct.

- as a religion there is no officially leader for Muslims. Muslims follow the orders of their Holy book " Quran" and the sunna (practices, teachings, habits, approvals, disapprovals) of their prophet Mohammed.Their are many Islamic scholar who teaches Muslims these two sources.

- As a government: The Islamic Union (Khilafa) continued for more than 1200 years. It consisted of all now a days countries from China to Morocco.The president of this government was considered the poltical leader of Muslims.But the government was failed after the first world war.And the states of the country splitted to independent countries.
