Protestantism is not a religion, but rather a theological system of any of the churches of Christendom that separated from the Roman Catholic Church during the Reformation. Two of the most prominent leaders of protestantism are Martin Luther and John Calvin each of whom formed various religious sects.

1) Martin Luther (1517) formed the Lutheran Sect

2) John Calvin (1530) formed the Calvinists/Presbyterians/Puritans

There is no one leader of protestantism today. But protesting theological systems, false doctrines and malpractices in the church and reforming new ones is an abundant practice still going on everywhere today. It's evident in the seemingly endless denominational choices that are offered.
