The book of James talks about true religion is taking care of widows and orphans. The Old Testament is full of this also: the prophets Elijah and Elisha helping widows, God telling Israel to take care of her widows in the law He gave them. In the New Testament in the book of Acts, Paul took a large gift from some of the churches to Jerusalem to help Jewish believers and widows. There is more if you look.

What is the relationship between the Judeo-Christian Bible and the American judicial system?

The American judicial system is based on the English system of justice, including the concepts of common law, equity, habeus corpus and trial by one's peers. The English judicial system, in turn, was developed variously by the kings and barons to protect their rights and privileges. The Bible was used as a source of moral authority, but was not the source or inspiriation of the judicial system.
