Samaritans were the descendants of the Tribes of Ephraim & Manessah, whereas mainline Jews were the descendants of the Tribes of Judah & Benjamin. Both viewed each other with suspicion & had nothing to do with each other. This was because mainline Jews built the Temple in Jerusalem, while Samaritans built a Temple on the mountain believed to have been where Abraham tried to sacrifice Isaac.
Another Answer:
After the Assyrian Empire conquered the Northern Kingdom of Israel (primarily the 10 tribes of Israel not including Judah and Benjamin primarily) circa 722-718 BC, the Israelites were taken away into what is now Northern Syria/Iraq. The Assyrians planted other captives in this new land of Israel. Of course not all the Israelites were captured and transported. Eventually, the newly transplanted peoples inter-married with the remaining Israelites and incorporated some of their beliefs and customs.
Now the Southern Kingdom, though too conquered by the Babylonians in three stages - 604, 597, and finally 586 BC - were allowed to return by Cyrus the Persian leader who God called His servant. They re-established Jerusalem. They interpreted the treating of 'neighbors' as other Jews (now including Judah, many of Benjamin, most of Simeon and Levi too) and even had a written description of how to do this (legalism). They did not recognize the people living to their north - the Samaritans and in fact despised them generally.
So the story Jesus told of the Good Samaritan was meant to teach the Jews the spiritual meaning of God's law of love - even to a Samaritan who was the only one to help the injured man in need of it.
Herod Antipas was not considered a Jew, as he was of Idumaean and Samaritan descent. He was a client king under Roman rule in Judea and Galilee during the time of Jesus.
The actions of the Good Samaritan were different from the customs of the time because he helped a stranger in need, regardless of the social or religious differences that existed between them. During that period, helping someone from a different social or religious group was not common practice. The Good Samaritan's actions demonstrated compassion and kindness that went beyond societal norms.
Probably from his accent. But it could also be that the Samaritan men dressed differently.
You need to check out the cool Samaritan at the museum at LA
No. Sanballat was a Samaritan leader and official of the Persian Empire who harassed Nehemiah and the Jews during the Nehemiah's efforts to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem.
the good samaritan law in France requires you to stop and help somone in need of assist if it does not endanger you.
No, you can be a good samaritan by acting like him. You can treat others carefully and gently. For example, ur mom... Ur mom needs help cleaning the dishes or mowing the lawn, just help her and by doing that, you are being a good samaritan.
It means that you can't be sued if you try to help someone who eather accepts your help or cannot answer. (like if they are knocked out) I don't think the Good Samaritan law covers giving them medication.
The "Good Samaritan" Doctrine.
To help someone how people didn't help as he was prejudge by others travelling by.
A Samaritan, he saw the man who needed help and so helped him.
If you are talking about the story of the good samaritan in the Bible, it doesn't take place in any particular city. The parable just takes place on a road to a city. If you are referring to another Good Samaritan story, I can't help you. Sorry.
