Why is religion important to study in high school?

Looking at our creation and the creation of the world proves the existence of supreme being God Almighty, which even science is believing.

So when there is God Almighty and created us, then there must be an instruction for us to follow in order to have a life fill with peace, tranquility and love.

And now this is our (human) responsibility to discover which religion is the true religion of God Almighty. Major religion of the world like Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Buddahism... may be others too claim that their religion is the true path.

Religion has a very powerful influence in economics and politics. If you study the historic formation of various religions with an opened mind and a probing spirit, you may discover some very revealing truths about the world in which we live.

You may be able to discover like I have, that religion can be a very effective and rewarding tool in the hands of shrewd individuals. It can be used to enrich oneself financially or spiritually. It can also be used to manipulate and control others for good or evil ends.

It has been used as an effective political and commercial tool as evidenced by the many historic records of religious wars.

It is important so you can confute the original answer of this question. There is no scientific evidence of the existence of God. The history of most religions clearly shows a pyramid structure where the elite is on top. The first answer also shows the pointless question of what religion is better. This reasoning is what gave the world religious wars that in fact were cover-ups for money and domination.

I don't know what religion you are, but I can tell you from my perspective that knowing what others believes helps me to share my own beliefs with them. It helps me to identify the 'false prophets' as talked about in Christianity and avoid their tainted teachings.

I believe that I am to share the Truth of my Savior with others and I can't do that if I approach someone and they are immediately on the defensive about their own beliefs. I have found that educating myself in their beliefs prepares me to answer questions they might have and helps me to dispute discrepancies of their religion.

I have studied and am studying world religions. I believe it is really important because it removed many stereotypes I had of many religious groups. Meeting other people of other religions is also very important because you can see that we are all humans despite our beliefs.
