The first to put the good news about the Christ into writing was Matthew. He wrote his account in Palestine. The exact year is not known, but subscriptions at the end of some manuscripts (all later than the tenth century C.E.) say that it was 41 C.E.

The apostles began writing about Jesus within decades of his death, with the earliest New Testament writings dated to around 20-30 years after his crucifixion. The Gospels of Mark, Matthew, and Luke were likely written between 60-90 AD, while the Gospel of John was written around 90-110 AD.

What is the Difference between apostle and disciples?

Disciples are learners or pupils and apostles are sent on behalf of another.Additional information:The Hebrew word for 'disciple' (limmudh) refers to a person who is learning, being taught, or trained. A related word (malmadh) means a "goad", a long sharp stick used to train cattle. (Judges 3:31;Hosea 10:11.) In Greek the word for disciple, "mathetes", denotes a person who directs his mind to something.(Luke 6:13) .'Apostle' (apostellei), on the other hand, means 'a sent-forth one'. Jesus chose twelve specific people out of his group of disciples and called them 'apostles' that they might continue with him and that he might send them out to preach..."(Mark 3:13-14)(Matthew 10:1-42; Luke 8:1) These twelve were STILL 'disciples', (Jesus' pupils), (Mathew 11:1; 20:17; John 20:2) , but they were consistently called "apostles" because, though ALL Christ's disciples were to preach about God's Kingdom(Luke 10:1-12, Matthew 28:19+20), the APOSTLES took the lead in the work Jesus directed. (Matthew 11:1). Because people are given these different gifts and responsibilities, God's organization is well structured and effective(Ephesians 4:11-12)(Matthew 24:14).

What event marks the end of Luke's Gospel and the beginning of Acts?

Luke's Gospel and Acts of the Apostles were written by the same author, long assumed to be the apostle Luke. The Gospel was written first, with Acts apparently written after an interval, during which some of Luke's assumptions may have changed.Luke's Gospel ends when the risen Jesus last spoke to the disciples and was then taken bodily up into heaven on the evening of the day of his resurrection.Acts begins when the risen Jesus, who had remained on earth for forty days, seen by many, last spoke to the disciples and was then taken bodily up into heaven.

How old was st john when he died?

60 years oldAnother AnswerAlthough the Bible does not say how old John lived for, according to Ephesian tradition John was a very very old man when he died. If John was 25 when Christ died in 32AD, this would make him born 7AD, and as scholars put the date of John's book of Revelation at 96AD, he would have then been 89. If he died the next year it would make him at least 90 when he died: he could have been even older.John 2120 Then Peter, turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved [John] following;...21 Peter seeing him saith to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do?22 Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me.23 Then went this saying abroad among the brethren, that that disciple should not die: yet Jesus said not unto him, He shall not die; but, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee?

Where did Jesus go after saying goodbye to his disciples?

A:Matthew's Gospel: Jesus said goodbye to the disciples in a mountain in Galilee, instructing them to go forth and teach all nations. The gospel does not say where Jesus went, but that he would be with them always. Luke's Gospel: Jesus said goodbye to the disciples near Bethany on the evening of his resurrection, and was taken bodily up into heaven.John's Gospel: Jesus said goodbye to the disciples near the Sea of Galilee. The gospel does not say where Jesus went, but that the beloved disciple (commonly assumed to be John) would live until his return. The reference to Jesus' return suggests that Jesus went up to heaven. We can not say why Jesus did not return within the lifetime of the beloved disciple as promised.Mark's Gospel: This originally ended at verse 16:8 with the young man telling the women that Jesus was risen and they fled in terror, telling no one. In this gospel, Jesus did not say goodbye to the disciples. The 'Long Ending' (verses 16:9-20) was added much later, largely based on Luke's Gospel, and says that Jesus was taken up into heaven.Acts of the Apostles: Written by the same author as Luke's Gospel but some time later, this also says that Jesus was taken bodily up into heaven, but this time near Mount Olivet and rather long after the resurrection.

How long has the Catholic Church believed in the Real Presence?

Since its inception. The belief first came from the Apostles on the night of our Lord's Last Supper (Holy Thursday) when our Lord Jesus Christ turned bread into His Body and wine into His Most Precious Blood. After Jesus died, rose, and ascended into Heaven the Apostles institutionalized the Church in the Acts of the Apostles. From there, they did as Christ asked them to repeat at the Last Supper.

Was St Andrew a Gnostic?

St. Andrew (brother of Simon Peter) was one of the 12 apostles of Jesus none of whom were gnostics. Scholars generally date the gnostic gopels to the early-mid 2nd century, long after Jesus and the apostles (including St. Andrew) were dead. The gnostic gospels (e.g., gospel of Thomas, etc.) were written by others over a century later.

Whose house were the apostles at when Jesus first appeared to them after resurrection?

In Matthew's Gospel, Jesus did not appear to the disciples in a room. His only appearance to them was in a mountain in Galilee. In Luke's Gospel, Jesus first appeared to just two disciples, Cleopas and (presumably) Peter, then to the eleven apostles in a room in Jerusalem. John's Gospel says that Jesus first appeared to just ten disciples in a room in Jerusalem. However, neither evangelist says whose house this room was in, nor how they came to have its use. Mark's Gospel originally recorded no appearances of the risen Jesus The "Long Ending" (verses 16:9-20), which was added much later, harmonises with Luke and John in having the apostles at a meal, but does not explain whose house this was.

Who saw Jesus returning from the tomb?

On the day of his resurrection Jesus appeared to:Matthew: Mary Magdalene and the other Mary, on the road as they returned from the tomb.Luke: The two men on the road to Emmaeus, then to the eleven apostles together in an upper room. They then went out to Bethany, where Jesus ascended to heaven.John: Mary Magdalene in the garden at the tomb, then to ten of the apostles together in an upper room.Mark: The earliest manuscripts of this gospel end at verse 16:8, with the young man saying that Jesus is risen, and the women fleeing in terror, telling no one. The "Long Ending" (verses 16:9-25) was added much later to provide resurrection appearances. In the "Long Ending" (there was also, at one stage, a "Short Ending") Jesus appeared to the two (women: to harmonise with Matthew, or men: to harmonise with Luke) as they walked and finally to to the eleven apostles together at a meal.

Jesus taught for three years until His death. After that, the Holy Spirit descended at Pentecost, and taught the apostles "all things", in other words, the fullness of revelation that they would need to evangelize the world.
