Romans 12:21 "Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good."

God's nature is that He always defeats evil with good. The idea that God is ominous is a deception crafted by God's archenemy, the devil.

II Corinthians 2:11 "Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices."

The word "ominous" indicates the threat of harmful or unpleasant happenings and the apprehension produced by their possibility. Satan's workings, not God's, were what resulted in Adam's disobedience and the harmfulness present in the world.

Romans 5:12 "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men..."

While he is the one responsible for ominous workings, Satan attempts to falsify appearances so that we will conclude God is to blame. The adversary wants those unaware of his crafty nature to suspect God and thus not be led to salvation by His goodness. As informed believers, we are not ignorant of Satan's devices. Continuing in God's Word, we are strong in the Lord and the power of his might.

Romans 5:6-9 "For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him."

God is not ominous. I guess God's character is somewhat different from what religions usually think. God's involvement in humans' personal affairs is very rare. God is responsible for what he had created on this earth and human beings are responsible for what they have created on this earth. The religions' teachings and preachings might have made people to think about God in a different angle. They must learn to think about him in a right angle. The relationship between God and human beings is just like a relationship between a scientist and his robots. Humans must think scientifically too. If God wants to do everything himself then why must he create medicinal herbs, plants and science for physical health and moral and discipline for mental health of human kind. Human beings must know the ways to rule themselves on this earth. He is always ready to grant intelligence and all that human beings need. He is always creating new spirits on this earth and make new developments on this earth.

God can determine the life of the human beings but he never does it. Only spirits determine the life of the human beings from their (humans') daily activities, talks and thoughts too.

God’s powers are immeasurable and unimaginable. He didn’t want to stay idle with all of his powers. He had created many planets and at last he had got the idea of creating the earth. Those planets are empty while earth rotates filled with many kinds of creatures. After creating the human beings, God might have thought that he had entangled himself in a great responsibility. He had created spirits too for various purposes. He is creating new spirits even now. The possession of these spirits cause new developments on this earth.

God never bothers whether people believe in him or not. God's direct intervention in individuals' affairs is very rare. God doesn't watch each and every human being at the same time and cannot live with each and everyone to guide them. These works are done by the spirits. God had created different kinds of spirits for various purposes. He had made the spirits to watch, guide and determine the destiny of the human beings from their daily activities, talks and thoughts too. Your past determines your present and your present determines your future. God has given freewill to all creatures including human beings. According to this, all human beings have all right to live a life as they wish. But if it happens to be bad and hurts someone, they have to face the consequences. These consequences are created by spirits. It's a natural system. After death no one lives in any form. Heaven and hell are only for spirits, not for human beings. God is a mystery even to the spirits. Spirits are not eternal beings but their lifetime is long. Spirits are separate elements. A human being during his/her lifetime is living with many spirits which have joined one by one since birth. They are knowledge, skills, feelings, emotions, instincts, interests and everything. Further there will be always some spirits with you on behalf of your parents, friends, relatives and Gods you believe. Only these spirits make you remember them in a certain situations. All of these spirits are your consciousnesses and memories. Even thoughts are not your own. For example, when you want to take a decision on a subject, one after another the spirits think and you just listen, choose or reject the ideas which they transmit to your mind through your brain in the form of thoughts. A mind is a group/formation of many spirits which have joined one by one since birth. A mind is just like a computer's mind. After the computer is completely destroyed you will not get its mind. The same is the case with the human beings. A brain is a device used by the spirits to control the body and mind. (A senior spirit or a chief can control other spirits) A human being doesn't have a spiritual body. Soul is an energy needed for the functionality of a body. It is not a spirit or anything else. A body's functionality is based on the auto mechanism. After death all spirits which accompanied a person quit and go to different places searching new bodies. No one lives after death in any form. All human beings are just robots made of flesh and bones and toys of the spirits for their games.

This answer actually changes with religions.

I am a Christian, so I believe that God is a loving and caring God not, evil and foreboding.

However, many religious like Hinduism have gods that are evil, or an evil outlook on life. Dating all the way back to the ancient Egyptians, one can find that their mythology had gods of evil in it.

Some can even interpret Allah, or the god of Islam, ominous because some believe of his hatred.

It really depends on what you think and believe, I am also Christian and I believe that God loves and cares for us, but He can be ominous to demons and non-believers...
