Yes, when Sarah saw Ishmael teasing Isaac, she asked Abraham to send Ishmael and his mother, Hagar, away. At first, Abraham did not want to, but God spoke to him, telling him to listen to Sarah's voice. This was the beginning of a fulfillment of a prophecy. Isaac would be the one through whom God's purpose would be fulfilled. The one through whom Messiah would come (Genesis 21:8-13)(Genesis 17:15-21/Genesis 25:5-9) who would provide a hope for ALL mankind, and benefit any who chose to accept it (Genesis 12:3/Galatians 3:14).
In Genesis chapter 17 Genesis 17:16 And I (God) will bless her (Sarah) and also give you (Abraham) a son by her; then I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of peoples shall be from her."
Abraham either accepted that God would save Issac or raise him back for Issac was a promised child. If you recall God did not tell Abraham to kiss Issac, HE told him to offer Issac and as God has never been in the human sacrifice business there was no danger from the start. This was not a test for God, it was for Abraham and witness to Issac for Abraham came back down the mountain a man stronger in faith than when it ascended.
Genesis 12:1The LORD had said to Abram, "Go from your country, your people and your father's household to the land I will show you.
Nebuchadnezzar II had the total of 6 wives
Abraham, Isaac, Jacob
It was upon Mount Moriah where Abraham was told to offer Isaac: "Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you"
No, God told Abraham to send Hagar and Ishmael away.
Genesis 22:1-2 (King James Version) "And it came to pass after these things, that God did attempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am. And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of." It does not say in the Bible which mountain Abraham took his son, Isaac, to, but I my guess is that it was a small mountain that did not have a name.
As you may already know, Abraham and his wife Sarah, were both really old when they had Isaac. As a test, God told Abraham to sacrifice his son. If he had enough faith in God, he wouldn't have to worry about what happened to his son. Abraham took his son up to the altar and Isaac asked what they were offering. Abraham said, "The LORD will provide the offering." Abraham tied his son to the altar and prepared to kill him when an angel of the LORD appeared to him. He told Abraham to let his son go, he had showed his faith in God. Abraham had passed the test.
Isaac spoke up and said to his father Abraham, "Father?" "Yes, my son?" Abraham replied. "The fire and wood are here," Isaac said, "but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?"Abraham answered, "God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son." And the two of them went on together. Genesis 22.7,8
Isaac. Genesis 22:1-2 And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am.And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.
Gen:22:2: And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of. Gen:22:14 :And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah-jireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen.
God had asked him as a test of faith to sacrifice his son, and Abraham was obeying by faith - knowing God could raise him again - but was not required to carry it out.
Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob."...'I AM the God of your ancestors - the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.' ..." (Ex.3:6 NLT New Living Translation)"...'...I tell you this, that many Gentiles will come from all over the world and sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob at the feast in the Kingdom of heaven...' " (Matt.8:11 NLT)."'And there will be great weeping and gnashing of teeth, for you will see Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and all the prophets within the Kingdom of God, but you will be thrown out. Then people will come from all over the world to take their places in the Kingdom of God.'" (Luke 13:28-29 NLT)"For it is the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, the God of Jacob, the God of all our ancestors who has brought Glory to His servant Jesus by doing this. This is the same Jesus whom you handed over and rejected before Pilate, despite Pilate's decision to release Him. You rejected this Holy, Righteous One and instead demanded the release of a murderer. YOU KILLED THE AUTHOR OF LIFE, but God raised Him to Life, And we are witnesses of this fact!" (Acts 3:13-15 NLT)
My son's middle name is Isaac. I did alot of research during my pregnancy as most women do and found an interesting story....In the Hebrew Bible, "Isaac" means "he will laugh". For those of you who are not familiar with who Isaac was in the old testement, let me tell you a story..... Abraham and Sarah were Very old and had no children. The bible says that Abraham was 100 years old. God told Abraham that he and Sarah would have a son and to name him Isaac. Abraham's response??? He laughed at God. Not in a mocking way, but disbelieving. It showed me that even though my son was a suprise, he had such a stong purpose. My repsonse when I found out that I was pregnant??? I laughed...I knew God was in control and I knew he had a reason for giving me this wonderful miracle that now tracks mud all over my floors :)...Good luck Mommy's and daddys!!!!
Then God said: "No, Sarah your wife shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac; I will establish My covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his descendants after him. (Genesis 17:19) The promise regarding Isaac is the continuation of the same promises that God madeto Abraham in Genesis 12:1-3 (and repeated elsewhere). God's promises to Abraham were mostly in the distant future. This necessitated the inclusion of not only Isaac, but his son Jacob, Jacob's 12 sons and all of their descendants. Isaac's father, Abraham, was promised: 1. The land he was living in (Canaan) 2. Would be a great nation (Israel) 3. Through his seed all of the nations of the earth would be blessed (Christ). These are repeated to Isaac and then to his son Jacob. The entire remainder of the bible is the fulfillment of these three promises, made originally to Isaac's father, Abraham.
