I believe he was Roman Catholic, but if he was a christian no one could tell, with him killing some one,(and this wasn't just any body, this was the Civil Rights Movement Leader!) not only that, he was pastor, a man of God! Now i don't know about anyone else but that just sounds crazy! If he was a christian,(i highly doubt It!) how could a sheep kill the sheard!!!! Of course the above explanation assumes that first of all Catholics don't kill anyone... which is incorrect (especially in the case of Catholics killing protestants - and the namesake of Protestantism himself...). Not to mention that the opposition to the civil rights movement has always, and almost exclusively been christian. I highly doubt that the above answerer's personal opinion about James Earl Rays religious beliefs are relevant to the question. An improvement to this answer would be an unopinionated: Roman Catholic.
