What is the spiritual benefits of physical activity?

Running has always been spiritual to me. After the first three or four miles my mind starts to zone into a very relaxed mode and I find myself able to deal with some of my biggest daily problems. I will then clearly see a calming solution take shape. I also believe that I experienced a real spiritual awakening while running. The Holy Spirit entered my body, I had never felt so good before, never breathed so deeply , never saw things so brightly as I did at that time. Never before did the red color of the track seem so vivid or the grass seem as green as when I saw it that evening. I heard a voice telling me to pray and I got down on my knees in the grass and prayed. A spiritual experience is not the same as a religious experience. People who go to church are religious, but people who take what they are taught on Sunday and try to live it all week are spiritual. Me, I would rather be spiritual, so yes, you can get something spiritual out of running, some call it peace of mind.
