One Answer:

You believe in a supernatural entity without recourse to reason.

Another Answer:

On the other hand, The Bible indicates that TRUE faith is BASED on reason.

Hebrews 11:1 defines"faith" as ". . .the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen."(NASB)

For a person to be ASSURED and CONVINCED of something, there needs to be EVIDENCE ("ground forbelief"dictionarydotcom)and PROOF (evidencesufficient to establish a thingas true, or to producebelief in its truth.Dictionarydotcom)

This does not work for everyone, as the Bible itself tells us at: Acts 28:24 and 2 Thessalonians 3:2.

Faith in God means that we believe that he exists, is involved in our lives, and will care for us and be the rewarder of those honestly seeking him(Hebrews 11:6)(Mark 11:24). It means that we trust his council, obey what he says to do, base our decisions on his Word and know assuredly that what he's prophesied WILL happen, because we've seen it work out in our lives in the past. We KNOW it, because we've seen evidence of his involvement, and seen proof of his love through his word the Bible. And each time, faith get's stonger.(John 13:19)

1. When you hear the wind whistling, and the tree branches hitting the window, you KNOW it's windy out even before you look outside. Once you've looked out the window, you STILL cannot see the wind. You can only see the leaves flying, the trees bending back and forth, the clouds zipping past. You don't doubt the existence of the wind, just because you can't see it. You can still SEE the EVIDENCE.

2. If you have a favorite aunt who loves you dearly, ALWAYS bakes apple pie because it's your favorite, makes you laugh and spends time with you every time she comes to visit, you don't worry when you hear she's coming again. You KNOW it will be lovely, and you 'll have a great time. You have FAITH that it will be a nice visit, even though it hasn't happened yet, based on past experience.

Faith in God is similar.

God is a spirit, and so invisible to human eyes, and in God's case, so powerful that it would be impossible for us to see him and live(Exodus 33:20 ) and yet, the EVIDENCE of his creative powers, his purpose and his love for his creation is everywhere around us.
