According to folklore the angel of death is covered in eyes and has such an awesome appearance that it causes the dying to gasp, at which a drop of poison is administered to the dying persons tongue from the tip of its sword. Apparently this is an attempt to explain why the deceased are found with their mouths' hanging open.

AnswerThe Angel of Death means that an Evil Angel is waiting for one to die. In Yiddish it is spelled like this: Malach Ha-Mavis

Answer

The angel of death is one of God's angels who is sent by Him to escort a person's soul away when they are ready to die.

AnswerI'm Christian so I say...Well, this Angel has many names actually. The Grim Reaper, the Angel of Death, the Undertaker...etc. The Angel of Death isn't evil. It is simply an escort to the judgment of where to go, either heaven or hell.

My answer

The angel of death has been brought up in many different religion as the one entity who brings the souls of the dead to their final resting place. Yes, it is covered in eyes, and this is to allow it to see into a person's soul, to see where they will go after death. the angel of death is inpartial, as it is not evil, nor good. it simply is a escort.

The Angel of Death was once Lucifer, and some of his captain's would fulfill this role on his orders. His main goal was to cause a human being to sin against God and then slay them while "in sin" in order to take their soul to Hell.Upon the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, the "Lord" took from Lucifer the keys of Death and Hell over which Lucifer had the legal authority.Amongst the fallen angels (as in respect to their fall from "God's grace"),there are many angels of death, for the Lord has appointed the time of the death of every human being, and just so,he has death solely under his dominion.

Now,Lucifer acts as role as prosecutor and persecutor of the brethren in Heaven and on Earth...he is usually found before the throne of God accusing those whom live on the earth continually and without cease. Those who are damned and without salvation are sometimes slain by a holy or unholy angel at God's direction, those whom are "saved" are usually taken and escorted by holy angels.

Answer

There is no reference to an Angel of Death in Christian scripture. At death the spirit leaves the body but it is not taken by any Angel of Death. Though it is commonly accepted that someone will meet the recently deceased persons spirit, it is more that likely someone who has known the person in life before they themselves died. Perhaps a parent or the persons Guardian Angel if this belief is accepted.
