What is the ultimate norm or ground of distinction between right and wrong?

The ultimate norm or ground of distinction between right and wrong can vary depending on one's ethical or moral framework. It can be based on religious beliefs, cultural norms, societal values, rational principles, or a combination of these factors. Ultimately, the answer to this question is subjective and is a topic of ongoing debate in philosophy and ethics.

Are there universal and absolute rights and wrongs discernable by the human conscience or are all notions of right and wrong culturally determined?

We all (we meaning all humans) were actually created in the image of God. So, if we are created in the image of God, we therefore reflect God in us. the ability we have to tell what is right and wrong comes from God. to not do what God wants us to do (the right thing) is to do what is against God's will for us (the wrong thing) for example: if we lived in the "caveman" times (not saying i believe there were caveman times, but hypathetically speaking) so, if we lived in the caveman times and i walked up to a cavemans wife and shot her and ran away with her, that caveman doesn't have to think about whether what i just did is right, or worng. He already knows it's wrong. Now, is that culturally determined? no. He just knows (he has an "instinct" or a "contience" that lets him know its wrong. ) i like to think of it this way.... the absence of heat, is cold. the absense of light, is darkness. the absense of right, is wrong. the absense of God, is sorrow,pain,brokeness..and ultimately death. Get into a Bible based church and learn all about this! :) Because, God loves you, VERY much. don't listen to how this world makes Him out to be, He loves you. a relationship with God is like a juicy fruit. i can't explain it and put it into words, it's only until you reach out and take a bite of it for yourself that you see it's amazing :) have a good day! (:

Should religious people accept contraception?

Although this is phrased as a single question, there are actually two questions at play.Should religious people accept the use of contraception by others? The answer to this must be an unequivocal yes. Other people have the absolute right to manage their fertility as they see fit. This absolute right applies regardless of their marital status.Should religious people use contraception? Here there is no right or wrong answer. Each person must decide in good conscience whether they see anything inherently wrong in the use of contraceptives. Even if the decision is that there might be something inherently wrong in the use of contraceptives, he or she must also decide in good conscience whether a greater wrong is to risk having more children than can be supported in the circumstances.

When is it ok not to forgive someone for doing the same thing over and over?

Ya, I can... and there are many cases for it. e.g. 1) In past, I might be wrong and didn't forgive someone; then I realized my fault. Now, I don't repeat my fault anymore. 2) This 'forgiving' may vary from person to person. It can happen that I didn't forgive someone for his/her doing, but I may forgive someone near-and-dear one for doing the same. 3) It may occur that in the past, someone did something wrong intentionally and so I didn't forgive him/her; but now if I see someone doing the same wrong thing unconsciously and unintentionally, and after finding own fault he/she has intention to be changed, then I'll forgive him.

Are you doing the right thing?

Based on what the situation is, opinion sets apart of what is right or wrong. For example, If I am answering this question, is that the right thing to do? Based on what people do and what people think is how everyone determines what is the right thing to do and the wrong thing to do is. If i can't answer this question, people will have different opinions on when, where, why, and how i answered this question. Justification is only the illusion created to convey the message that the mind is in control. Opinion is what the mind is. Doing the right thing is your mind acting, doing what it is suppose to do: think. This question cannot be directly answered because of the mind.

Is practical advice for peace and inner strength given in the Analects?

One of the pieces of advice for peace and inner strength that are given in the Analects is to do right, not just by vowing not to do wrong. This means that doing the right thing is far more important than simply not doing the wrong thing, simply not doing the wrong thing is taking no action, while doing the right thing is being proactive.

Doing the right thing is good. But there is a difference in what you want to be the right thing and the actual right thing to do. Life is a fork in the road; you've always got to differentiate right from left and right from wrong.
