They crawl onto the backs of Canadian geese while they are feeding in the fall before migration. The geese actually benefit from this symbiotic relationship because the baby turtles eat the ticks off of the goose's body. Thus resulting in healthier flight endurance, because the ticks are parasitic and greatly reduce blood flow, ultimately this can lead to sudden cardiac arrest.
