In the 1200s the book of Paris' trades states that waffle-makers are very popular. They sell their waffles in the streets, and next to churches on Sundays. It is unclear wether one could find older written references to French pastry.

Firstly the best Cornish pasty must always be made in Cornwall that why it is called a Cornish pasty. Secondly it must be made with Cornish ingredients which includes skirt beef (skirt is a type of steak).
