Are supermarkets green enough

It depends on the supermarket. Do they buy from local producers, especially local organic producers? Do they offer a wide range of local and/or organic foods? Do they encourage the use of reusable bags by their customers? Do they use recyclable plastic bags for produce and carry out? Do they recycle packing and shipping materials? Do they use compact fluorescent lights overhead? Are they in a location convenient to public transportation, walking/biking trails, or a residential area? There really is no answer for whether or not a supermarket is "green enough." In fact, many times it depends on the consumer and what they ask of the grocer. Ideally, everyone would be self-sufficient or rely on neighborhood farmer's markets, rather than conglomerate supermarkets. However, more and more markets of all types are striving to embrace the green movement and utilizing "green" practices in their business.
