How does nationalism affect racism?

Nationalism to an extreme can stir up xenophobic sentiments against "foreigners, drifters, anyone who is received to be not of the counrtry."

Nationalism is generally placing one's own country first, and therefore percieved foreign people can be categorized generally in the form of racism.

The more extreme form of nationalism is facism, nationalism is believeing in one country's greatness and facism is believeing one country's greatness and all other countries' terribleness.

Ex: The USA stations countless young soldiers all over the world in bases (publically or not), alot of times rape and murder will be done by the soldiers (borned young men with no women around) and it will stir up alot of anger as unlike a normal rape/murder everyone who feels patriotic will have a common ground to vent the anguish on. Furthermore it is more beneficial for the community to vent on foreigners or people not percieved as patriotic as it gives everyone a common enemy and promotes unity, giving more support to those who claim they'll do something about it.

Nationalism is a devotion to ones country Racism is hate for people of ethnicities other than your own. A person can be a nationalist without being a racist, loving your own country does not mean you must hate others. Likewise a person can be a racist without being a nationalist.
