AC can be produced form pet-coke by chemical activation with potassium hydroxide in ratio of 6 KOH to 1 coke(6:1). the activation time is 60 minutes and activation temperature is 800 to 900 C. this can yeild a AC with surface area up to 2500 m2/g.
