At first I thought you meant, Pierre Cousteau, his brother, so I was going to answer that this isn't possible, as his brother died a long time ago. (see link) Then I checked, Pierre-Yves is the son of Jacques Cousteau. I found no mention of this presence in the Gulf Coast. However, Jacques Cousteau's grandson, Phillippe, did dive into the spill.
The cleanup of the Gulf of Mexico following the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in 2010 is an ongoing process. Initial response efforts began immediately after the spill, but full restoration and recovery will take years, with some estimates suggesting it could take decades for the ecosystem to fully rebound. Various restoration projects are still being implemented, and monitoring continues to assess the long-term impact on the environment.
The Gulf of Mexico oil spill, particularly the Deepwater Horizon disaster in 2010, took a long time to clean up due to several factors. The sheer volume of oil released, estimated at around 4.9 million barrels, overwhelmed response efforts and complicated containment and recovery. Additionally, challenging weather conditions, the deep-water location of the spill, and the need for specialized equipment and techniques hampered cleanup efforts. Environmental concerns also required careful consideration, slowing down the process to minimize ecological damage.
It is still not fully clean.
They tried to clean it up but it kept coming out.
Less than a month.
The oil spill has required immediate inspection by the MMS and USCG of all drilling rigs currently operating in the gulf. See related links. No new drilling permits are being issued for the Gulf of Mexico. The latest initiative to open up more exploration areas in the Gulf of Mexico and the eastern Atlantic coast line is suspended, while the accident is being investigated. Further, a spill of this magnitude makes people aware that exploratory drilling has risks. The long term affect may depend on what is revealed after a complete investigation of the accident, and if procedures can be put into place to prevent blowouts of this nature in the future.
200,000 meters long or approximately 656,167 feet long. 130 miles? seems a little long that would put you in the mantle. this is not the right answer.
