"Preventing Pollution In Our Seas"

Most of us only think of the land pollution & not the water If you were to scan the sea, you would find lots of rubbish. Especially PLASTIC!!! The question is "What are the causes of plastic pollution?" So I will talk about the sea's plastic pollution. To start with, I'll talk about how our fish take it. I'll go straight to the point. 700 000 kilograms of rubbish and plastics are just tipped into the deep waters of our sea. A regular plastic six-pack ring, for example, could last 450 years. This is because plastic takes so long to break down, especially at sea. The amount floating around in our oceans is constantly rising. Plastic Pollution is increasing the damage of sea life. Plastic bags are being mistaken for Jelly fish and food. This means that turtles and other animals eat the plastic bags, choke and die. Fishing Line, rope, plastic six-pack rings and Fishing Nets also get sea creatures tangled and choked to their death. Boats are using large nets in areas that shouldn't be fished in. For example, areas that contain turtles. People are also using long curtain nylon nets beneath the water, against the current. This means the fish get pulled by the current into the nets getting trapped. Now I will talk about the type of rubbish that is dumped into our sea. Sharps such as glass bottles or beer bottles are awful, especially if they are broken. Even if we swim in the sea, we could cut our feet on these sharp objects. It's not very nice. People are also finding large objects like drums (Large tins) That may have some dangerous liquid or objects inside. These tins are usually old and rusty. Scientists have proven that 86% yes that's 86 percent of ocean pollution is Plastic. If you think that it doesn't matter, then think again. Did you know the great barrier reef will be dead by 2050 from pollution and high sea temperature's? This is why we need to keep Australia clean.
