The nation as well as Franklin Pierce faced a crisis over slavery, particularly over whether to allow slavery in new territories and states. Another issue was what do with slaves that escaped into a free state. The deeper issue was whether to abolish slavery in the whole country. Another related issue was the right of a state to secede from the union if it chose to do so. There was a long standing issue of protective tariffs which benefited Northern manufacturers at the expense of consumers.
Pierce also had problems within his political party. He was not in control. Although he was needed as a compromise candidate to win the election, his value declined sharply once he won the election. He could not count on party leaders in Congress to push his programs.
Pierce enjoyed fishing.
Franklin Pierce fought in the Mexican War from 1846 to 1848. Pierce served with some distinction, rising to the rank of brigadier general.

There is no direct familial relationship between Abraham Lincoln and Franklin Pierce. Abraham Lincoln was the 16th President of the United States, serving from 1861 to 1865, while Franklin Pierce was the 14th President, serving from 1853 to 1857. They were both prominent figures in American history, but they were not related to each other.

Pierce liked to fish. I do not think he played or watched organized sports. He probably ice skated , sledded, and did some horse racing as a boy.
