What do you do if your best friend who is a girl likes you?

I am a girl, my best friend is a boy...i wouldn't know if he was into me because i feel weird asking him if he does and i don't think he would tell me either! I love him to DEATH! I hang out with him all the time...my parents konw that he is my best friend! He is funny and sticks up for me no matter what is going on! But people come up to me like from school and say "are you two going out" one time he said we were but WE ARENT! i stick up for him too...like if a another boy is being meen i go up to him and say "WOOAHHH don't be meen to him!" and they back off! like i said i love him and my parents know that he does too! he comes to my house all the time and when we had a party at school we danced...isn't that what friends should do?? just one thing though..if your gonna be best friends with him you cant go off telling people your dating unless its true...he might get mad and just never talked to you, so be carefull.

Make sure you aren't assuming anything untrue, and then tell her that you're not interested while stressing that you are very much interested in keeping your friendship. Find a good time to talk to her (you're alone, in a quiet, non-distracting place), then keep eye contact and say in as non-accusatory a tone as possible something like, "I've noticed lately that you've been [whatever makes you think she has a crush on you]", wait for her answer, and if she actually does have a crush on you and she's ready to take it, "I want to let you know that I definitely want to stay friends, and I think that's going well right now, but I'm not ready for a relationship and I don't think that that's something I want right now."

OK, that was pretty bad... just make sure you don't give her reasons like "I'm not gay" or "I don't like you in that way" - those are things she should know as your best friend, but maybe soften the blow when you first tell her. Make it seem like you considered her position first so that your reasons seem more considerate and she won't be as hurt.

Similarly, just because your best friend is lesbian and you are a girl does not mean she likes you. If you feel strongly about it, you should talk to your best friend about it. No matter what, try and understand her from her point of view. First think of it always as a compliment, at least your likable! If she has told you herself that she likes you NEVER shrug it off or act like you don't care because if she is your best friend you will probably want to continue your friendship and if you do that, well.... she will be deviated. However if you have heard it from any other source than herself never believe it. The best thing you can do is think about your feelings for her if she has told you hers then try and have a talk with her. It's probably what she wants. Just stay calm because she has confessed her feelings for you and it is hard for her.
