Anything, anyone, and any ideas, thoughts or dreams. Most of the time it is imposed on the "weak and unprotected." People or organizations with power are rarely censored with out a fight. A fight defeats one of the main reasons for censorship.

A bladder cancer organization chose to censor me because of my flippant and humorous outlook. The fact that I asked questions about who made decisions, and how they were arrived at didn't help my cause. Censorship can go under several names-- bullying-- shaming-- against the rules...offensive to others people...unpopular opinions... The list goes on.

Censorship is a term often used to describe a situation whereby the press, theater and arts, literature and freedom of speech, among many other rights are controlled by a government. In certain cases this is legitimate. For example, circulating pornography to minors is a form of censorship. Few people are opposed to that type of censorship. The term usually makes the assumption that minors need to be protected. Most often, however, the term is used to describe constraints made on the rights of adults as described in the first sentence of this answer.
