Where did immigration come from?

Most immigrants came from Italy, Ireland, France, Austria, and Germany
Through history, immigrants have come from different countries at different times. All that is needed to trigger a new flow of immigrants is a viable way of traveling, and a definite reason to leave the home country. A lot of Irish people migrated to the US because of famine back home, and rumors of successful farming and good work opportunititues in the US. A lot of Swedish people also migrated because of similar reasons, poor farming back home and difficulties in getting their own land. Sometimes, you get immigrants because of political changes in the home country.

Well people have been migrating since forever! You could say "Immigration" to Europe and Asia started when humans moved out of Africa, but that's probably too extreme. The most obvious forms of US immigration were the pilgrims from England and rest of Europe. After Europe its been Asians to the US and Hispanics also.

Immigrating to a different place, country, or city is probably due the fact that there is a lack of something where one is at. If not, what would be a reason for moving from a place that is perfect?
