Simply due to the facts that 'Christianity' has been practiced in Europe since the 1st Century AD and that over 75% of the European population is Christian - Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant predominantly. Also, since the mid-eight Century, all Popes (except the present one) of the largest Christian denomination - Catholic (1.2 of 2.1 billion) - have come from Europe.
In the 1700's the Spanish lived in central America and they were strong Christians when they settaled they took their religion with them :)
