In an attempt to raise awareness on the growing level of pollution, the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) organised 40 Pollution Under Control (PUC) check-up camps free of cost across the city on June 5, World Environment day. The camps also aimed at making vehicle owners aware about the importance of safe vehicles and a clean environment.
This year, SIAM in its special initiative SAFE (Society for Automotive Fitness and Environment) had undertaken around 2,200 PUC check-up camps in 256 cities across the nation. The aim was to check nearly more than 50,000 vehicles in this year while last year the initiative checked 25,000 vehicles at 1,200 dealerships covering more than 250 cities.
Director general of SIAM, Dilip Chenoy said that the Indian automobile industry has always been at the forefront to safeguard environment. "SIAM-SAFE is one such initiative where all stake holders and members come together to spread awareness about cleaner environment among vehicle owners and society as a whole. On the occasion of World Environment Day, these PUC check-up camps across the nation is one such effort," he said. Harjeet Singh, president, SAFE and assistant vice president, Hero Honda, said, "SAFE is proud to associate itself in this mega programme in partnering with automobile manufacturers and hope that this initiative impact the users in ensuring that proper maintenance is done for the vehicles." This activity registered a significant number of vehicles varying from two-wheelers to commercial vehicles.
Air polution and water pollution
Lead is not a major air pollutant measured by the air quality index. The major air pollutants measured are sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide, and particle pollution (PM2.5 and PM10). Lead is a toxic metal that can be harmful when ingested or inhaled but is not typically included in standard air quality monitoring.
Air quality in the UK is measured using a network of monitoring stations that measure various pollutants such as particulate matter, nitrogen dioxide, and ozone. The data collected from these stations is then used to calculate air quality indices which provide information on the level of pollution in the air and its potential effects on health. This information is made publicly available to raise awareness and inform actions to improve air quality.
False. Decibel is a unit of measurement used to express the intensity of sound, not pollution. It measures the level of sound pressure. Pollution is typically measured in terms of air quality indices, concentration of pollutants, or other specific measurements depending on the type of pollution being measured.
air pollution travels in the air
there's air pollution everywhere no matter where you go there's air pollution.
water pollution: polluting water air pollution: polluting air
The rainwater would be acidic with a pH less than 5.6.
There are many types of air pollution. There can be particulate air pollution from things like dirt and pollen. There can be chemical air pollution from things like engines.
Yes it is.
