Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia, then Germany offers to support A-H. Russia then offers to help out Serbia. Germany then declares war on Russia, and France sees this as an opportunity to get fight Germany, so they join Russia's team. Germany then invades Belgium (neutral territory), and Britain then declares war on Germany because Britain and Belgium had an agreement of protection. The war began officially on 28th July, 1914.
