Individuals like Helen Keller, Upton Sinclair, and Jack London were attracted to socialism because they believed in its principles of social equality, workers' rights, and the redistribution of wealth. They saw socialism as a way to address the injustices and inequalities present in capitalist societies, and viewed it as a means to create a more just and equitable world for all individuals.

What are the different types of culture?

I don't know all.. :) but here are some.MusicArtLanguageReligionSportsDanceMilitaryGovernmentThe above are parts of what make up a culture. You could think in terms of collectivist and individualistic cultures. Collectivist looks at the society as a whole and each person contributes to that society, such as Chinese thinking or Japan. The Chinese worked at the Great Wall of China as a country effort, over many years, all working together no matter how long it took. Individualist cultures, as in the U.S., focus on the individual success story as morally good. Rockefeller, Reagan, Sinatra, Keller, Hilary Clinton, and Bill Clinton, Lincoln, are all individuals looked upon in individualist society as good.

Examples of thoughts?

Friendship for example, is a real gift. It's given with no expectations and no gratitude is needed, not between real friends. - Mr. George Feeny Happiness is a journey, not a destination; happiness is to be found along the way not at the end of the road, for then the journey is over and it's too late. The time for happiness is today not tomorrow. --Paul H. Dunn We must do what we conceive to be right and not bother our heads or burden our souls with whether we'll be successful. Because if we don't do the right thing, we'll do the wrong thing and we'll be part of the disease and not part of the cure. --E. F. Schumacher Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. --Leo Buscaglia Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. --Reinhold Niebuhr "Courage, it would seem, is nothing less than the power to overcome danger, misfortune, fear, injustice, while continuing to affirm inwardly that life with all its sorrows is good; that everything is meaningful even if in a sense beyond our understanding; and that there is always tomorrow." Whatever you do may seem insignificant, but it is most important that you do it. --Mahatma Gandhi Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go. --T.S. Eliot When you are kind to others, it not only changes you, it changes the world. --Harold Kushner Believe, when you are most unhappy, that there is something for you to do in the world. So long as you can sweeten another's pain, life is not in vain. --Helen Keller Some people think only intellect counts: knowing how to solve problems, knowing how to get by, knowing how to identify an advantage and seize it. But the functions of intellect are insufficient without courage, love, friendship, compassion and empathy. --Dean Koontz Never get tired of doing little things for others. Sometimes, those little things occupy the biggest part of their hearts. --Author Unknown To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong. --Joseph Chilton Pierce The most basic of all human needs is the need to understand and be understood. The best way to understand people is to listen to them. --Ralph Nichols You got to be careful if you don't know where you're going, because you might not get there. -- Yogi Berra Happiness often sneaks in through a door you didn't know you left open. ~John Barrymore I don't see the human as hopeless. There's a general tendency to presume people just act for short-term profit. But anyone who knows about small-town businesses and how people in a community relate to one another realizes that many of those decisions are not just for profit and that humans do try to organize and solve problems. --Elinor Ostrom We're all a little weird & when we find those people whose weirdness is compatible we join up with them & fall into a mutually satisfying weirdness & call them our best friends. --Cory Matthews, Boy Meets World "Life is about trusting our feelings and taking chances, losing and finding happiness, appreciating the memories and learning from the past." I resolved to stop accumulating and begin the infinitely more serious and difficult task of wise distribution. --Andrew Carnegie If a woman can only succeed by emulating men, I think it is a great loss and not a success. The aim is not only for a woman to succeed, but to keep her womanhood and let her womanhood influence society. --Suzanne Brogger I have a personal philosophy in life: kindness begets kindness. --Drew Johnson Never tell people how to do things. Tell them what to do and they will surprise you with their ingenuity. --George Smith Patton We often take for granted the very things that most deserve our gratitude. --Cynthia Ozick You cannot teach people anything. You can only help them discover it within themselves. - - - Galileo Teachers jobs are not to teach. Their jobs are to inspire people to teach themselves, to want to learn, and to think for themselves. "I'd rather regret the things that I have done than the things that I have not done." - - - Lucille Ball I rather make a complete fool of myself than sit on the sidelines. Why? Because then I will not think back years later and wonder 'what if'. Don't wait. The time will never be just right. - - - Napoleon Hill If you wait for the 'right moment', it will never come. I have put off doing so many things because I didn't believe that it was the right time to do them. There are plenty of words I should have said to people, but never did. Waiting means that nothing will ever get done, and if it does get done, not in a timely fashion. Every artist was first an amateur. - - - Ralph Waldo Emerson As a writer, this gives me hope. It tells me that as bad as I think I am now, I can always do better in the future. With my practice, my writing will get better. If you don't learn to laugh at trouble, you won't have anything to laugh at when you're old. - - - Edgar Watson Howe You have to have a positive attitude. If you don't, you will end up depressed and bitter. The good life is inspired by love and guided by knowledge.- - - Bertrand Russell Your life should be run by logic. However, you should not live your life as an emotionless robot. You should have passion in your life, but all of your decisions should not be ruled by it. The first step to getting the things you want out of life is this: Decide what you want. - - -Ben Stein You can't get anywhere in life if you do not know what you want. Some days it might feel as if you have gotten nothing done. Most of the time it is because you had no idea what you wanted to do in the first place. Good, better, best. Never let it rest. 'Til your good is better and your better is best - - - St. Jerome While there is no such thing as perfect, there is your best. It is pointless to strive for perfection, because it does not exist. Even if you didn't get the highest score on a test, or beat all of your friends at a game, you can sleep at night knowing that you did the best you could do. At the end of your life, you will never regret not having passed one more test, not winning one more verdict, or not closing one more deal. You will regret time not spent with a husband, a friend, a child, or a parent. - - -Barbara Bush In the future, it will not matter how miserable I might have been in high school. It will not matter if I forgot to study for a test. What will matter is how I was able relate to other people. My great hope is to laugh as much as I cry; to get my work done and try to love somebody and have the courage to accept the love in return. - - -Maya Angelou If in the future I laugh as much as I have cried in the past, I will live a happy life indeed.

Do left-handed people grasp things quicker then right-handed people?

Some studies say that a left hander's brain is structured so they have a wider range of abilities. Does this mean that we rightys are a bit disabled?I guess it does. The part of the brain that lefties use are more in tact with their creative side and their scientific understanding. Here's some famous lefties:: Left-Handed U.S. PresidentsJames A.
