Well, I am not sure that woman are less respectful towards men than in other countries. It could be an incorrect perception, and you are actually just observing women being equally as forthright as men in their speech... which doesn't have all that much to do with how much they respect men.
However, some cultures teach female subservience, and in the US that is less prevalent. I think women still respect men as individuals, but don't see them as superior or in charge... although many still do, even here. Some of it has to do with a history where men owned women as property, or were allowed to vote while women were not. After being thought of as second class for so long, and still suffering from a disparity in income and in other ways in society, it is easy for women to feel that they have to overcompensate in order to make their way in this culture.
