That really depends on how long it is staying still for. Some fish are capable of just sitting there and fanning water across their gills so that they can breathe. This means that they can sit there until they eventually starve and die.

sucker-fish, or any other fish, do NOT eat waste. they sometimes eat uneaten food and they are good for tanks because they help clean it..
