Why do mps bow when the leave the house of commons?

It is commonly thought that they are bowing to either Mr Speaker or to the Mace, which lies during sittings of the house in the chamber in one of two brackets inbetween the entrance and the speaker, according to whether or not the house is in committee. This is said to be a show of respect to one or the other. In actuality, the practice began when the Commons sat in St. Stephen's Chapel. Members bowed to the altar. The altar, being raised up on some steps, was also where the speaker's chair was located. The practice of bowing, over the roughly 300 years in which the Commons sat in the Chapel, came to be misunderstood as bowing to the speaker. It was therefore resumed when the new chamber opened, with members bowing to the speaker.

Can the Federal government establish standards for doctors and lawyers?

In the United States, this power has been left to each individual State. For the Federal government to establish standards, the courts would have to rule the assumption of a State power back to the Federal government as constitutional. Given the current justices on the US Supreme Court (in 2012) this is extremely unlikely to occur.

How do you get my government phone to call out?

It seems that this would be a question for your network/phone administrator to answer, though I kind of suspect that the fact you weren't told how to do this indicates that you're not supposed to be doing it, and since I am (indirectly and partially) paying the phone bills for "your government phone", I'm just as happy that way.

How many cases per hour should a journeyman grocery stocker throw?

At my old company the minumum was 100 case/hr but you were ridiculed until you quit unless you were hitting in the 130s. At my current company the standard is a dismal 75 case/hr but we never throw on the clock, so it's never enforced. Personally I do about 170 case/hr on the canned goods aisle, which is generally considered the most difficult aisle, but can hit over 300 an hour on easy aisles like juice and detergent. I feel like 120 cases/hr is good enough.
