How do you change a picture tube on a Sony Trinitron TV?
Well this is a job best left to a tv repair shop. Removing the old tube should not be a hard job except I would caution you not to lift the tube by it's neck and you should wear safety glasses and gloves because these tubes can implode (blow up) if dropped. Also it's possible to get a shock on the old tube, one time this happened to me as I was lifting a picture tube and placing it into the back of my car. Lucky that my dad was helping me otherwise I could have dropped the tube. The tube should be discharged before you remove it. The real problem is going to be reinstalling the yoke coil and magnets from the old tube to the new one and then adjusting them so the color is in alignment. If you have never done this before you could spend hours trying to get the colors adjusted right.

For broadcast signals there are two formats. 1920 x 1080 is one and 1280 x 720 is the other. Although the 1080 line image has more pixels, the 720 line signal updates the image at twice the rate of the 1080 image so the amount of data used for each is the same. The i stands for interlaced meaning that the image is updated in two passes of the screen, odd number lines first and then the even numbered lines on the next pass. Problem is, once you find one in your display, you'll be drawn to it each time you watch your TV and it'll become an irritation, reducing your viewing pleasure.
The other thing you should get is an extended warranty. The repair parts could cost half as much (or more!) as what you paid for your TV in the first place, plus the cost of the service call for someone to come out and look at it.
With an extended warranty, if the display goes out, it should be covered under the repair contract, so whomever makes the display really shouldn't be an issue. If not, find a seller that does.
