Can a Hernia affect a Bowel Movement?
Holding in bowel movements will probably not cause a hernia. If you hold your bowel movements in it could cause your bowels to burst and you can die.
What quadrant does the small intestine and large intestine meet in?
The small intestine and large intestine meet via the ileocaecal valve in the right lower quadrant , ie the right ileac fossa.
Enzymes produced by the small intestine?
The small intestine produces and secretes many enzymes, as it is here where digestion mainly occurs. These enzymes include:
The enzymes mentioned above are actually produced by the pancreas.
How can you tell the difference between human and canine feces?
No I am also led to believe that they smell and taste different, this is not from personal experience of course! well maybe it is but that's another story...
It is a statement or action that has no relevance to the subject of discussion.
They are not very effective in preventing HIV transmission. They are probably better than nothing, but lamb skin condoms have microscopic holes in them - the holes are small enough so that sperm cannot pass through, but STDs and HIV are still a risk.
What do you do if your poop is to big to come out?
I'm an engineer, so I would work out with a pencil, but you shouldn't try that.
You should try lubricating the anus with Vaseline or K-Y Jelly, working the stuff as far into the rectum as can be done comfortably and safely. You could also try an oil-based enema. If that doesn't do the trick, see your doctor.
Is the knee is distal to the ankle?
The toes are distal to the ankle. They are farther away from the origin of the lower leg.
What can you compare a cilia to?
Cilia are some of the appendages used for cell movement. They could be compared to the tires of a car since they are used for movement.
Most are used to move things like mucous over their surfaces, not like their own movement. They act more like windshield wipers that move rain.
Should patients taking blood thinners use precaution with taking a colonoscopy?
Patients who regularly take aspirin , nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), blood thinners, or insulin should be sure to inform the physician prior to the colonoscopy.

What is the role of the duodenum?
The function of the Duodenum is to use the body's chemicals to break down food.
Another way of putting it--
The function of Duodenum, so named because it equates to the length of about 12 fingers, completes digestion of carbohydrates, proteins, and lipids. It also absorbs about 90% of the nutrients and water that pass through the digestive system.
FYI; The Duodenum is the shortest region out all the regions ( Jejunum and Ileum )
How does the villi help the small intestine to absorb sugars quickly?
The small intestine is all about maximizing surface area. The immense amount of folding enables it to be very long meaning more surface area. The villi further increases surface area. They are projections that provide even more membrane surface area that food, while passing through the small intestine, will come in contact with. This contact with the membrane of the small intestine is how absorption occurs. Nutrients that are used in the body will diffuse across the intestinal membrane into the blood stream because the concentration will be high inside the intestine and low in the blood plasma. This difference in concentration is what "drives" diffusion across the membrane.
What does partial or complete blockage of the small or large intestine called?
intestinal obstruction
What is the job of the large intestine?
Absorbing water and a few nutrients from the food bolus, and expelling the remainder to the outside. The vermiform appendix is now thought to resupply good bacteria to assist digestion when sickness has flushed them out. I am not sure which of these is the main job.
The small intestine has three main divisions:
- duodenum
- jejunum,
- ileum.
Those are the main sections, but the duodenum could be divided further into: superior, descending, horizontal, and ascending portions.
Humans can poo alot or a little. It depends on how big or small, or how much you eat. If you eat a lot of food you may produce lots of poo and vice versa. When you got to go, you got to go! Be sure to grab a magazine on your way to the bathroom!
What controls the passage of material from the small intestine to the large intestine?
There are structural (anatomical) and functional (physiological) ways the digestive system regulates how food is passed from the stomach to the small intestine. The major anatomical regulators are the pyloric sphincter (a muscular band that acts like a valve to open and close the connection between the stomach and small intestine) and the pyloric antrum (the part of the stomach commonly associated with stomach motility, mixing, and propulsion of stored foodstuffs into the small intestine). When the pyloric sphincter is relaxed and the antrum is active, food is propelled into the small intestine; when the sphincter is constricted and the antrum is relaxed, food is stored in the stomach. A number of physiological factors exist that regulate the activity of the pyloric sphincter and antrum. The principal regulators are nerves and hormones involved in the digestive process. The vagus nerve is an example of a nerve with major regulatory effects on motility of the stomach and small intestine. Gastrin and cholecystokinin (CCK) are gut hormones also involved in stomach motility. Gastrin is secreted in response to food (particularly amino acids, the building blocks of proteins) in the stomach and stimulates antral motility that serves to mix food. Strong antral contractions cause opening of the pyloric sphincter and the movement of food into the small intestine. CCK is released in response to foodstuffs (particularly fats) in the small intestine and inhibits antral motility of the stomach.
Here are some things you can do to stop excessive gas:
Why do you have diarrhea for more than three days?
DON'T DRINK:soft drink because its got gasy stuff in it.
drink
don't eat fatty and sugary foods.
(some foods that will help are mac n cheese, rice, toast, applesauce, yogurt, and really anything cheesy. But I wouldn't recommend any other milk products like cream cheese or ice-cream or even plain milk, because that can sometimes make it worse)
Toilet answers:
Sit on the toilet, cry cos it hurts so much, fart your butt of and let the diarrhea run
Help answers:
Don't eat anything for a day and drink lots of water. Eat rice.
Medical answers:
That's something to ask your doctor
Why do you need muscels in your intestine?
smooth muscles makes up the intestinal wall whereas skeletal muscles would make up your biceps, triceps, and any other part of your body that you consciously control.
Involuntary smooth muscle.
Smooth muscle lines the intestines, and contracts in waves to push food along.
Smooth muscle
smooth muscle
The type of muscle that the pushes food down to the intestines is called smooth muscle tissue. This is an involuntary non-straited muscle that is found within the walls of blood vessels.
Yes smooth muscles are the muscles found in small intestine
