Medusa was originally a beautiful virgin priest of the goddess Athena.
After being raped by Poseidon, god of the ocean, Medusa was accused of disgracing the temple of Athena; therefore, Athena turned Medusa into a monster with the following traits:
- An over all representation of a corpse (In other words: She was hideous)
- The hair of poisonous snakes to instil terror into those who gazed apon her
- Looks that kill... Anyone who matched their gaze to her would turn to stone. This isolated Medusa from any social activity.
it depends on with verson of the myth
It is said that Medusa lived on a hidden island with her two sisters, Stheno and Eurayle.
Since she lived during Greek times, I'm assuming that she wore what the same robes that other Greek women were wearing at the time. In the legends it says she had snake like hair too...... Supplementary answer On the other hand, since Medusa was a monster and not an ordinary woman, she may have been wearing any kind of outfit.
What is the diffence between polyp and Medusa?
polyp---sea anenome, medusa---jellyfish
Phlycabs
In plain English a polyp is a cylinder with tentacles at the top. The Hydra looks like a tin can with slender arms coming from the top of its body. This body form does not move and the animals are trappers.
The medusa is an umbrella shaped structure with tentacles hanging down from it. The jellyfish is an example. These animals move. During the reproductive stages of the jellyfish there is a time when they take on the polyp form. Then they bud off and become medusa.
Nighthawk
The Greek hero Perseus killed Medusa.
He took his reflecting mirror and shined it to Medusa. Then, she cut off her head and she threw it into a nearby pond.
What was Medusa love interest?
Medusa fell in love with Poseidon (she was still in human form) They decided to meet in Athena's temple and Athena found them in her temple. Athena turned Medusa and her two other sisters into the Gorgons.
There are two different myths about Medusa.
In the first myth, Medusa was a very beautiful woman who lived in the far north. She had never seen the sun, but wished to desperately. Athena denied her request to come south, though, and so Medusa accused her of being jealous of her beauty. Athena was so enraged that she cursed Medusa, removing her beauty and making her so ugly that people turned to stone when they looked at her.
In the second myth, Medusa was a priestess in Athena's temple. Her beauty was great and many men courted her. Eventually she caught the eyes of Poseidon and he attempted to "seduce" her. What he did, in fact, was rape her in Athena's temple. This was a terrible violation of a sacred place and, when Athena found out, she turned Medusa into the form we've come to recognize: half woman, half snake (or dragon) with serpents for hair and a look that turns men to stone.
So, you see, Medusa did not love anyone. Except, perhaps, herself, if you go by the first myth.
What coulour snakes did Medusa have on her head?
they add to her ugliness which causes people that look at her to turn to stone.
How does medusa protect herself from her enemies?
Athena, a goddess did this to her. When Medusa was a very beautiful girl, she asked to visit the south. Athena did not let her. So then Medusa therantened her that she would dare say she was jealous of her beauty. Then Athens got mad and cursed with ugliness. She was so ugly whoever looks her in the eye will turn to stone.
What was Medusa's hair made of?
Medusa was a beautiful woman. She was turned into a Gorgon by Athena because Medusa and Poseidon had an affair in Athena's temple. Having sexual affairs in a goddesses temple is extremely disrespectful. When Medusa was turned into a Gorgon, she became immortal. She was the extremely ugly and had snakes as hair. When anyone looked at her, they turned into stone. Later, Perseus, a hero, went on a quest to get Medusa's head. He could only use the reflection of his shield to look at her, or else he would turn to stone. Once the head is removed, it still has the power to turn people into stone.

Nowhere in Ovid' Metamorphosis or The Odyssey did it say where Medusa lived.
In Greek mythology, a gorgon is a female monster (also known as a Gorgo.) Medusa was the most famous gorgon. She was a beautiful, young women with magnificent long, silky hair. Guys even lined up to date her. One day, while she was in Athena's temple, she fooled around with Poseidon (Neptune,) which of course angered Athena. Athena was so mad she changed Medusa's beautiful hair into hissing serpents and made her into a horrible looking gorgon. She was so horrible that any living thing that looked upon her would turn to stone.
Not long after this, Perseus (Zeus' son) tried to rescue his mother Danae from King Polydectes by bringing back Medusa's head. To make a long story short, Athena and Hermes helped him out by providing him with magic winged sandals, a curved sword to slice off her head and a shield. Using his shield as a mirror, Perseus didn't have to look directly at Medusa and managed to decapitate her. From her head sprang the winged-horse Pegasus and the giant Chrysaor. Perseus used Medusa's head as a weapon during subsequent battles prior to returning to Athena. Athena then took the head from Perseus and threw it into her shield where it remained
Medusa was called Medusa... She had two sisters; Euryale and Stheno. They were the three Gorgons. Euryale and Stheno were immortal. Medusa was not.
No. Athena is her enemy. Medusa lived in Athens and was considered the prettiest. Every day, she would brag about her beauty. (annoying, right?) Anyway, she went to the Parthenon with her friends and bragged about how she could could have made a much better model, for the sculpture of the goddess Athena herself. She kept bragging on and on to her friends about how she would have made a better model than Athena for all of the paintings and sculptures in the Parthenon. Everyone in the temple heard her, and in fear that Athena might come to the Parthenon in rage, everyone left, leaving Medusa alone. Athena visited Medusa and told her, that it didn't matter about the outside, it was the inside that counted. She turned her into a hideous monster with snake hair and the power to turn people to stone with one gaze.
:) :) :) Hope that helped :) :) :)

How did Hercules defeat Medusa's brothers and sisters?
Heracles did not "defeat" any of Medusa's brothers and sisters, for they were immortal. Further, the mortal man who killed Medusa with aide of Athena was Perseus - not Heracles.
Are Athena and Medusa friends?
No in fact the reason Medusa is a gorgon is because Athena turned her into one in this myth here:
The three Gorgon sisters were daughters of ancient Sea Gods, Ceto and Phorcys. Two, Stheno and Eluryah were immortal, but the third, Medusa was not. She had been a female of absolute beauty, mostly her long, silky hair. She bragged at being more beautiful than the Goddess Athena, and one day, while in her temple, she was ravished by the Sea God Neptune. Athena was outraged by this and turned Medusa into the Gorgon she became famous for being. She turned her beautiful hair into snakes and let it be that she could no longer see the handsome men who came to court her, as they would instantly be turned to stone if they looked into her eyes.
