What are examples of unsupported mining methods?
One example of an unsupported mining method is Room-and-Pillar mining. This method involves timber beam supports to hold up the cave in which the mining is taking place. Another example involves using the mineral, such as coal, to hold up the walls. Pillars of the mineral are left in the mine as supports. This method allows for less of the mineral to be collected, because it is being used for the actual support of the mine.
Correction
Simply put, unsupported mining refers to the use of the grounds natural rock strength and the principals of ground control techniques to extract ore (with some waste) from the ground. There are two types of mining, surface and underground. The term support generally refers to the application of timbers, concrete, shotcrete, rock bolts, rock cables, screens, etc and a combination of these.
Unsupported mining on surface is carried out successfully by designing pits with slopes that are at such an angle that the walls will not collapse during the extraction process. The ideal slopes have safety factors that are greater than 1.0. The ideal open pit mine would be one that would stand in place until all the economic material was removed, after which failing or slumping.
Unsupported mining under the ground (u/g) is carried out successfully by designing openings either drifts, cross cuts, stopes, raises and other that are of the size and shape that they do not fail or "cave". Generally hard, competent rock that is not highly fractured, faulted, or jointed will lend itself to unsupported mining techniques u/g. Rocks that can be mined with the use of ground controlling tools or devices can generally be mined by a few different methods, room and pillar, longwall stoping, sublevel stoping, and block caving.
I have this question for homework tonight. :D the temperatures would have to be below freezing and the moisture would have to be humid. Lol I'm 13 years old in advance classes. :D (like earth science) GL!
What problems were caused by the mining boom?

3. The chance you found something was very very slim, but people wanted to become 'rich'
What would happen if you placed a nugget of iron pyrite into a beaker of mercury?
If you place an iron pyrite cube in mercury it will produce about a millivolt of current in water. More in salt water or vinegar or free radicals. This is a completely unexplored way to generate free electricity. It is not due to galvanization since the cube is the dependent aspect. Take the cube out and the amperage disappears (slowly but surely over time). This indicates both a capacitance and current generating characteristic that is unique to the interaction of the cube and mercury and the water provides the connective volt potential (although a different medium would yield better results.
How did new technology change mining?
well new technology made penetration much easier for miners to get in the hole, and the introduction of the canary made it easier not to choke and to dig in the hole for a longer period, the creation of the roller steamer made the mining hole wet for easier digging and penetration to the gold

Where is antimony found in nature?
Antimony is primarily found in stibnite ore deposits. It can also be found in small quantities in other ores such as valentinite, senarmontite, and boulangerite. Antimony is typically produced as a byproduct of smelting other metals like lead, zinc, copper, or silver.
What was a Putter's job in the coal mines?

What are three steps in obtaining a metal from its ore?
1. Rock must crushed and separated into useful metal and ore
2. Magnets are used to separate some of the metals
3. The rock is then mixed with other metals to make alloys that have more useful physical and chemical properties
What is the relation between ADB and AD for coal testing?
ADB (Air-Dried Basis) and AD (As-Delivered Basis) are two different methods of expressing the moisture content of coal. ADB refers to the moisture content of coal after it has been air-dried, while AD includes the moisture present in the coal as it is delivered to the end user. The conversion between ADB and AD allows for accurate comparisons of coal quality for various purposes.
How do you make a low vein hard hat?
Use a band saw and cut out the section u want removed. Then cut the section u removed so that the peice lower part of the removed will fit correctly back to the base of the hat. Use fiberglass bondo and sandpaper to re shape and form the harddhat. Paint and there u go. You will learn more little tricks the more u fo it. Tip...use a old hat for your first time.
