If by "Fat Balls" you mean that suet concoction to hang in a tree to help birds feed in the winter, then: tell your local butcher (supermarket meat cutter) that you would like suet to feed to birds. Great to do this on Thurs or Fri afternoon when they are preparing meat for sale over the weekend. At that time, or before, buy some fresh vegetable that comes in a mesh bag (like those tomatoes on a vine) If plastic is not what you want to use, you can purchase cheese cloth. The short version is to plunk the raw suet into the plastic mesh bag, snip some minor holes in the mesh, and hang it from a tree limb. Please note, even in winter the suet may melt in sunny conditions -- so don't hang it over your patio, over the dog house, etc (common sense required). The deluxe version will roll the raw suet in millet seed (do not use song-bird mixture because you will have thistles forever) and I guess the super-deluxe version melts the suet, adds seed and chills it in cheese cloth in the shape of a ball.
