Once the seats are removed, there will be a small access window where the fuel lines can be easily disconnected and the fuel pump "unscrewed" from the tank. Unscrewing the pump takes either a special tool or a lot muscle. After the pump is removed, the filter can be separated from the pump assembly. Be careful to not break the plastic parts on the pump when removing the filter.

This is not standard equipment. There is a dealer installed option to include a "backup sensor" (Part # 08V67-STX-210B). It costs almost $600 with installation.
