Did Cain kill Abel over a woman?

Cain was "jealous" of Abel, because... in effect... "God liked Abel best."

Not really... but, rather, God: "...looked with favor on Abel and his offering, but on Cain and his offering He did not look with favor. So Cain was very angry, and his face was downcast." (Gen.4:4-5 NIV)

With the sin of their parents, Adam and Eve... it's evident from the account that God instituted the sacrificial laws immediately upon the children of men.

"Now Abel kept flocks, and Cain worked the soil. In the course of time Cain brought some of the fruits of the soil as an OFFERING TO THE LORD. But Abel brought FAT PORTIONS FROM SOME OF THE FIRSTBORN OF HIS FLOCK." (Gen.4:2-4)

Among the sacrificial laws, there are both "BLOOD" and "GRAIN" offerings to the Lord, whereby one's atonement is sought for the forgiveness of one's sins.

It's evident from scripture that: "...the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness." (Heb.9:22)

So it was in the beginning and so it was also when the Israelites entered into covenant relationship with the Lord.

By sheer virtue of Abel's "blood sacrifice" offerings [where, by law, there is forgiveness], God looked upon his "offerings" with greater respect than "farmer" Cain's "grain offerings."

And Cain became jealous... and eventually enraged with his brother over the favor he held in the eyes of the Lord. No woman is mentioned as the cause of the world's first murder case.

When was the Garden of Eden in the 4.5 billion years the earth has existed?

According to the Bible, the earth was created 'in the beginning', no specific time period indicated (Genesis 1:1). The creation of the Garden of Eden, and life on earth, began much more recently, believed by many to be around 4,026 BCE, in southwestern part of what is now called Asia (Turkey), around the Euphrates and Tigris Rivers.(Genesis 2:7-15) Scripturally, Eden is referred to in other books of the Bible (Ezekiel 28:13)(Isaiah 51:3)(Joel 2:3)(Ezekiel 36:35), and according to Bible chronology, would have been created a little over 6000 years ago.

What happened when Adam and Eve ate from the tree?

Sin is the process by which Adam and Eve fell by eating of the forbidden fruit. Sin is defined as the violation of God's laws. God gave Adam and Eve freedom of choice in the Garden of Eden except in one regard. Adam and Eve were told to avoid the fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. They disobeyed God, they broke a divine law, they committed the world's first sin, and they were punished.

Has adam got a penis?

Adam was the father of several children, three sons are named as Cain, Abel, and Seth and the Bible states that Adam and his wife Eve had many more sons and daughters. When God created Adam he created him fully male with the objective to have children with Eve and start to populate the earth.

How many times was man created according to the Bible as Genesis 1 says man and woman were created together but Genesis 2 says man was created alone and woman much later?

Only once as is grammatically correct for the phrase 'created man.' Some have attempted to read the accounts in Genesis 1 and Genesis 2 as two separate accounts - it is not 2 but 1. It is simply because Genesis 1 is an outline of the renewing of the Earth and the flora and fauna for the 'reign of man' which would begin with Adam and Eve. Genesis 2 is a complementary and supplementary continuance of the event mainly from Adam's perspective.

Some people have come to believe that the creation accounts in Genesis 1 and 2 contradict each other. These people believe there is more than one creation account and point to Genesis 1 describing animals being created before Adam, while Genesis 2:19 'could be read' as if Adam had been created before the animals. But the Bible never contradicts itself, because it was inspired by God. Genesis 2:19 doesn't mean that God created Adam first and then the animals. The correct chronological (day-to-day) sequence of events is stated in chapter 1 but not in chapter 2. The content of chapter 2 is a complement and supplement to chapter 1. God means for us to combine the content of the two chapters to get a more complete picture of what happened and why.

Did God make Lillith before Eve?

Bible Answer:

There is no mention of Lillith in the Bible. There was no helper or complement of Adam before Eve (Genesis 2:20). Eve, alone, was the one who became 'the mother of everyone living'(Genesis 3:20), created from Adam's rib(Genesis 2:22).

How did seth die?

The Seth (or Set) of Egyptian mythology was struck down by Horus ( the son of Osiris) who restores order to the world.

We are not told how the biblical Seth (3rd son of Adam and Eve) died.

Eve was made from a rib of adam.

Who was Lillith during Adam and Eve?

Lillith was Adam's first wife, according to Jewish folklore. She left the Garden of Eden because she would not obey Adam. She considered herself to be his equal.

Who took Adam's coffin to Jerusalem?

It is easy to get carried away with hagiology of Adam and look to different traditions that have no evidence to support them, and which disappear when new fads arise. Neither the Bible nor the Quran even says that Adam was buried in a coffin. Scientists and most scholars say that Adam never really existed, so there was no coffin.

One of several Islamic traditions says that Adam himself went to Jerusalem and died there (even though there were not yet enough people on earth for any city). Another tradition says that 150 of his descendants carried Adam's body to Jerusalem. Yet another tradition is that Noah (Nuh) buried the thousand-year-old coffin of Noah in Jerusalem.

How can you apply principles from the story of Adam and Eve in your daily life?

1. God created Adam and Eve and He prepared a place for them and put them in that place. So God is sovereign He is in control of all things and God is loving and kind. God is the rightful 'owner' of all creation. God is still in control off all things today.

2. God walked in the garden with Adam and Eve. So God communicates with man He has done through out the ages and still does to day.

3. Adam and Eve were spiritual beings they had the ability to know God, they had the ability to love, they had free will. Mankind today denies God's existence and does not know God

When Adam and Eve disobeyed God their relationship with God was broken and they were separated from God. Today everybody born, is born separated from God i.e. spiritually dead. To return to a right relationship with God a person must be spiritually reborn.

4. God made mankind the caretakers of the earth. Today we are still caretakers of the earth but we are not doing a good job.

Were there other people alive when Adam and Eve lived in the Garden of Eden?

According to the Bible, there were no other people in existence when Adam and Eve were in the Garden of Eden. Eve was the original 'mother' of "EVERYONE living" (Genesis 3:20) and Adam was the man from whom ALL nations would come (Acts 17:26). They had no children until AFTER they were evicted from the Garden (Genesis 3:23-4:2).

Answer

There certainly were people alive hundreds of thousands of years before the time attributed to Adam and Eve. However, it is not that simple.

The story of Adam and Eve is a religious story and should be treated as such, free of scientific expectations. Our knowledge of the evolution of man is based on scientific evidence and, in a similar way, should be kept free of religious expectations. One does not precede the other, because they are based on different truths - biblical tradition on the one hand, and scientific evidence on the other.

Where in the Bible does Eve give birth?

Genesis ch.4. According to tradition, she had Cain while still in the Garden of Eden (Talmud, Sanhedrin 38b).

What tree did Adam and Eve eat from?

A:The fruit that Adam and Eve ate in the story of the Garden of Eden was the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. By eating from this tree, they became like gods (Genesis 3:22: "And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us..."), but had also become aware of their mortality.

The only difference between them and God (or the gods) was that they must die. By eating of the Tree of Life, they would then also be immortal.

In Genesis 3:24, God drove out the man and placed at the entrance to the Garden of Eden, cherubim and a flaming sword to keep [block] the way of the Tree of Life. Adam and Eve were sent from the Garden and could not be allowed back for fear they would eat of the second tree.

How did God relate to Adam and Eve as spiritual beings?

That part of the Book of Genesis that concerns Adam and Eve is considered to have been written by the Yahwist source, for whom God (YHWH - Yahweh) was anthropomorphic and could walk with Adam and talk to him just like another person. Thus we have God walking in the garden in the cool of the day (Genesis 3:8).

In the earliest Yahwist traditions, there was no concept of a spiritual side to Adam and no vision of Adam in an afterlife. When Adam and Eve had eaten the forbidden fruit, a somewhat spiritual punishment from God was putting enmity between Adam and Eve, and between men and women.

God is portrayed as relating to Adam and Eve as a stern and unforgiving father would, punishing in this life even for unintended transgressions. He was able to enforce his punishments by causing Adam and Eve to hold enmity towards each other, and even for their remote descendants to continue in hostility.

Did Adam and Eve have three kids?

Only three of Adam and Eve's children were mentioned by name (Cain, Abel, and Seth), however it is very likely they had many more children than that. Most likely more children than the average married couple would have today.

When Cain and Abel were born did Eve die?

Apparently not. Though Eve is not mentioned either way, nor is Adam said to remarry, they have another son named Seth and many others unnamed:

Genesis 5:3-5New King James Version (NKJV)

3 And Adam lived one hundred and thirty years, and begot a son in his own likeness, after his image, and named him Seth.4 After he begot Seth, the days of Adam were eight hundred years; and he had sons and daughters. 5 So all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years; and he died.

How can God rightly blame the whole human race for the original sin of Adam?

Adam and Eve were created innocent and lived in the Garden of Eden. Satan came to the garden and lied to Eve. She believed him and thereby sinned and caused Adam to sin. At that time they both died spiritually. To be dead spiritually means that you are at enmity with God or that you actually hate God. The sin of Adam and Eve passed on to every person who was born from that time on. Everyone is born spiritually dead. and has the potential to commit the most heinous sins. Original sin is defined as, "that whereby man is very far gone from original righteousness, and is of his own nature inclined to evil." This is why God can impute sin to man.

If Adam and Eve had three children Cain abel and seth how did they reproduce?

Later in the Bible it says that Adam had more sons and daughters, and since there were no other families, they had to marry each other and reproduce.

How does he bruise his heel Genesis 3 15?

Here is the scripture verse you are referring to - Genesis 3.15

"And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel."

The seed of the woman refers to Jesus Christ and his church, and the seed of the serpent is the devil and his people, and as Jesus and his church overcomes completely the devil and all evil by his resurrection and eternal life, so the devil may kill and hurt Jesus and his church (ie-bruising his heel):

"...that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eateth bread with me hath lifted up his heel against me". (John 13.18)

"Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life." (Revelation 2.10)
