Many people think Bin Laden is from Afghanistan but are misinformed because he is from Saudi Arabia and haven't stepped into the country until he was in his 40's. Afghans are considered the best land fighters in the world and also contributed a lot to this world such as Algebra and Medicine!

Afghanistan does not produce any oil nor does it have any proven oil reserves. Its strategic importance is due to its location. The economy of Afghanistan is based on several key industries: NGO's, Drugs, and Agriculture. The NGO's are non-governmental organizations working in Afghanistan for the betterment and development of the country and people. The Afghan government graciously taxes NGO's and any other foreigners working in Afghanistan a 600% higher electricity rate, taxes on their income, taxes on the money brought in, as well as fees on all goods flowing into the country for NGO's to do their job. In other words, NGO activity, that is that activity that is being donated to Afghanistan, is taxed by the government. The Japanese government built a whole new airport in Kabul, the capital, and the Afghan Government wanted to tax the Japanese on the cost of construction! The Afghans finally backed down from the Japanese.

Drugs are the greatest part of the Afghan economy - the sale of opium brings in a lot of money. This is why so many are corrupt within the government.

Finally, Afghanistan has a lot of natural resources and the promise of being able to develop many of these, should peace ever come. It is a great climate for growing numerous crops, including roses, pomegranate's, wheat, rye, soybeans, melons, citrus fruits, all kinds of vegetables and other fruits, sheep, cattle, camels, and goats. The problem is the war and insecurity, as well as the infrastructure which does not allow resources to be moved quickly around the country as well as exported.

Afghans follow the Islamic way of burial. If the deceased is male he is washed by men or if women she will be washed by women. After the body is washed its wraped in white cloth and no tear drop is supposed to fall on the body otherwise it has to be washed again. The head of the dead body is supposed to face to the qabla (towards mecca).

After the body is buried there will be a funeral at the mosque.

For 40 days there will be grieving and prayers.

The 3rd day after the death is an important day and the every Friday night for 40 days. Also for 40 days the dinner of dead is given out, in Afghanistan it used to be to the poor but in western countries the food needs to leave the house of the family.

Well, first and most importantly, women should keep the top of their head covered at all times. In the large cities, such as Kabul, the type of clothing will vary from very rural to very modernized urban clothes.

You must also take into account the weather. Although most of Afghanistan is covered with mountains, the sun is notoriously hot. It is suggested that you keep your body covered to avoid sunburn, but also wear loose fitting clothes to stay cool.
