Why is Maine such a popular tourist attraction?
Here is some input: * Take a look: http://www.campmaine.com/explore/region_info.php Don't miss the "Old Port" in Portland... And for fun, take the Mailboat cruise. A half-day trip around the islands for just a couple bucks! * For the true "Maine Hospitality" where you are treated as a somebody. Life is so laid back and not rush-rush. True "Mainers" don't cheat you, they are very helpful in every and all ways. * From the looks of things each summer, my answer is: for the ocean & the chance to eat lots of lobster!
Alcatraz closed down due to Prisoners escaping the grounds.
2.
The expenses of this prison were extremely high. It was also believe it was cruel to the prisoners because they can hear everything happend in San
Francisco. And as you should know, they would hear partying, firworks, buses, cars, people, boats, and they have to sit in a cell and listen. I don't believe that is why because only the most notorious criminals were there and they should have to listen, but thats one of the reasons. As I said before expenses were very high for the food, water, medicine, etc. to be brought to the island. It is not because someone escaped. That is just a rumor. It is close to San Francisco, but only during day you could probably escape (when the place is under full sercurity). If you escape at night, you'll have to swim and you'll drown in the deep waters with the current, waves, and rip tides. The government never actually povided us with the information on exactly why it closed. These are the top reason most people believe because these are the most believeable. There is one more which I think is fake. They say it began to get haunted. Which makes no sense because there are no records of anybody actually dying there. So I hope I helped answer your question.
378 cells in total, with 336 "normal" cells and 42 cells used for solitary confinement.
What happened in Alcatraz during the 1920's?
During the 1920's, Military prisoners were still being housed in the cell house. Within a decade, Alcatraz would begin a new era in penal reform. Anyway, military soldiers were being housed and trained on the island. Several of the Island's main guns were still in place, as well as the common use of a horse drawn carriage. The cannons that were taken off the Island were used as ornamental pieces for parks and forts (some of which are still there). There was also a major quarry operation on the Island. Rocks were being crushed and loaded onto steamers via an old, long gone wooden stretch known as the "Quarry Dock."

Did native Americans take over Alcatraz?
The earliest use of Alcatraz Island is documented by the indigenous people known as "Ohlone," a Miwok Indian word which means "western people." Alcatraz was originally used as a place of isolation for ostracization of tribal members who had violated tribal law. Over many years, the Ohlone used Alcatraz Island for hunting and fishing purposes, a resting spot, hiding place, and camping area. Early Indian tribes were confined in great numbers through the early 1900's. Alcatraz served as a Federal Prison from 1934-1963.
On November 9, 1969, a Mohawk Indian named Richard Oakes led a large group of Indian supporters on a chartered boat in a symbolic gesture of reclaiming the island. November 20th of that year, the symbolic occupation turned into a full scale occupation, which would last three years. In 1970, as many inhabitants of the island returned to the mainland to continue their education, the group fell into disarray. Since its formation, the group now included non-Indians and a large population of persons from the hippie and drug cultures. On January 5, 1970, Oakes's 13 year old stepdaughter fell down a stairwell three floors, resulting in her death. Oakes immediately left the island, and two competing groups formed and battled for leadership of the island. After two oil tankers collided at the entrance of the San Francisco Bay in 1971, the federal government sprang into action with a firm plan from President Nixon to "develop a removal plan." On June 10th of that year, armed federal marshals, FBI agents and special forces swarmed the island and removed five women, four children and six unarmed men. This move would end the Indian occupation of Alcatraz.

What happens if a minor molests a minor?
It depends on the ages, the events, and state law.
If both minors "consent" but are both below the age of consent, but close in age, both can probably be charged as unruly in juvenile court. If one is significantly older than the other, or if the action was not consensual, the aggressor can be charged with child molestation or rape, just as an adult would. He/she could potentially be charged as an adult, and therefore face adult consequences.
