What is the name for the part of a gun that holds the bullets?

Well, there's the chamber, which holds a round. On a repeating weapon, you're more likely thinking either of the magazine, or - in the case of revolvers - a cylinder.

Can normal shotguns fire blank shotgun shells?

Yes, but beware that many blank shells contain corrosive gun powder. Clean your shotgun after firing blanks to avoid pitting your barrel.

What is TMJFP ammo?

Total Metal Jacketed Flat Point. Many "jacketed" bullets have some lead exposed- usually at the base. TMJ wraps all of the bullet in jacketing metal. This can reduce leading of barrels, and airborne lead (indoor shooting ranges)

Which bullets still have lead in them?

A better question would be which do NOT have lead. A small percentage of rifle and handgun bullets are solid copper, bismuth, or some non-lead metal. Shotshells used for waterfowl are loaded with non-lead shot- steel, bismuth, or iron/tungsten alloys. But MOST bullets are still lead. It may be covered by a gilding metal jacket, but it is there.

What is the name of the part of the gun that fires the bullet?

The firing of a bullet is caused by a chemical reaction which occurs when the powder contained within the cartridge ignites, causing the formation of gases which expand and push the projectile out of the casing and down the barrel. This reaction is started when either the rim or the primer of the cartridge is struck by either a hammer, striker, or firing pin (depending on what action the firearm has). The hammer or striker is set into motion by a spring which is compressed until a sear is moved to release the hammer or striker (a hammer may either contact the primer directly, or it may hit a firing pin, which in turn hits the primer). And the sear is released by pulling on the trigger.

How must mail order ammunition be shipped to Ohio?

You can't ship it by USPS. You have to use a third party, like UPS, FedEx, DHL, and it has to have the appropriate ORM-D markings.

How many bullets do a 25 acp caliber hold?

How many bullets fit in a Remington 22 cap pump rifle?

Not sure what a "22 cap" pump is. The magazine capacity of a Remington pump rifle will depend on which MODEL, and whether you are loading 22 LR, 22 Long, or 22 Short. The Model 121A holds 20 Shorts, 15 longs, or 14 Long Rifle cartridges. A model 12 would hold 15, 12, or 10.

Can a laser activate a bullet's primer?

a high pressure pinpoint impact, shattering the internal explosives in the primer, will set off a chain reaction. a laser doesn't do this!! heat can, but it needs to be over 200 degrees celcius to do so, and this isn't a proper explosion, this is simply a fizzle, which can set off a bullet. a general laser will not heat it to this level.

Do bullets go through people?

Some do, yes, and some will instead get lodged into or bounce around inside the body cavity, rather than penetrate all the way through.

When was the first exploding shell created?

The exploding shell is older than the cannon. Among the first uses of gunpowder was to create bombs or grenades- a casing filled with gunpowder and a fuse. This could be thrown, catapulted, slung, etc. Early cannon used shot (solid projectiles) or shell (hollow, gunpowder filled). In the Star Spangled Banner, the term "bombs bursting in air" refers to an exploding shell.

What travel fast a bullet or sound of bullet?

It can be either. Some weapons fire sub-sonic ammunition, some super-sonic.

What kind of bullets does a walther pps take?

How many mph does a 303 rifle bullet go?

I'm assuming you're talking about the .303 Savage (there's also a .303 British). It varies by a number of factors, with one of the foremost being barrel length. Generally speaking, you can expect a velocity of around 2,090 ft/s (bullet velocities are usually expressed in ft/s rather than mph), but the actual results could vary greatly, again dependent on a number of factors.

Do you have reloading data for hornady leverevolution 160gr bullets for a 3030 Winchester model 94 using IMR 3031 powder?

First, for your safety please DO NOT solicit reloading data from anonymous sources on the internet. In wikianswers- anyone can answer a question- for all you know, I am 12 years old, and Mom does not know I am on the computer (I'm not- but that is beside the point)

Hornady does not recommend IMR 3031 for the 160 gr FTX bullet in 30-30. This is a link to the Hornady reloading page for your caliber.

PLEASE do not use reload data except that which is published by a powder company, a bullet maker, or manufacturer of reloading equipment.

How can you trace a criminal by a bullet?

When a bullet is fired from a rifled firearm, the rifling leaves marks on the bullet. Those marks are unique to that gun, and no other gun makes exactly the same marks. If a bullet (or fired cartridge casing) is recovered from a crime scene, and we suspect that YOUR gun was used to commit this crime, then a sample bullet is fired from your gun, and compared to the crime scene bullet. A comparison microscope is used to compare the bullets, or marks made on the fired cartridge case by the extractor and firing pin.

What does 9mm 9x19mmP ammo mean?

How fast are bullets made?

Depends on the caliber, load, and what maximum pressure the action can tolerate. Anywhere from 400 to 4000 fps.

The .22 rifle fires a bullet a little less that 1000fps.

Mach 1 is 1100fps.

Easy conversion equality: 88f PS = 60 mph

Why is bullet swelling in rifle chamber after shooting?

The bullet will not swell- after shooting the bullet has left the barrel. However, the cartridge case may be. The most common reason- it is the wrong cartridge for that gun. A .22 LR catridge fired in a gun chambered for .22 Magnum with swell, and may split.

This can be a major problem when an older gun has been rechambered to a different cartridge- but the markings n the gun have not changed. If the new cartridge is larger than the old- it will swell- may split, may be VERY dangerous.

This can also happen when a chamber is worn- and it is no longer the right size for that cartridge. This usually takes a lot of age and wear for a good quality rifle,

Final thought- not really swelling- but a dirty chamber can make a cartridge stick, Especially some of the European steel cased, lacquer coated rifle ammo. Would clean the chamber very thoroughly with a bronze brush, solvent, and a cordless drill- and then check that you have the right ammo for THAT gun. If those things do not fix the problem, you may have a HEADSPACE problem- have a gunsmith check it.

There are .30 caliber bullets, and there are .30 caliber cartridges. You load a cartridge into a firearm, which shoots the bullet out of the barrel.
