How many grains in the 5.56 rd?

That depends on which 5.56 round you had in mind.

The original M193 cartridge used a 55 grain projectile.

The current M855 and SS109 NATO standard cartridges use a 62 grain projectile.

The M196 tracer (which complimented the M193 ball cartridge) uses a 54 grain projectile.

The M202 cartridge used a 58 grain projectile.

The experimental XM287 and XM288 cartridges used a 68 grain projectile.

The M856 tracer (which compliments the M855/SS109) uses a 64 grain projectile.

The M995 armour piercing cartridge uses a 52 grain projectile.

The Mk. 262 Mod. 0/1 cartridge uses a 77 grain projectile.

Yes..... caliber specific ammo must meet SAAMI specs and will work in all standard firearms of same caliber. I shoot all rem's but I like silvertips, only Win.....be careful of reloads regardless of manufacturer, because once fired the brass conforms to the specific barrel in which it was fired. hope helps

Which has more energy the bullet or the recoiling gun?

Although their linear momenta are equal, their potential, kinetic, and heat energies

are different.

The gun has more heat.

Regarding potential energy, it can vary. But if the shot is anywhere near horizontal

and the shooter doesn't drop the gun, then the recoiling gun has more gravitational

potential energy at any time after the shot.

The fired bullet has more kinetic energy.

How do you reload 9mm ammunition?

Fired cartridge cases are cleaned, the old primer punched out, replaced by a new primer. A measured charge of gunpowder is added to the case, and a new bullet pressed in place. A tool called a reloading press is used, together with reloading dies.

How many bullets does the police handgun hold typically?

15 and up.

Actually, it depends. Many police departments in the U.S. use .40 caliber handguns. Some Glock handguns (the model 22, for instance) hold 15, but the Glock 23 holds 13. Sig .40 caliber handguns hold 12.

That said though, some agencies still use 9mm, although, depending on the model, some of those hold 11 or 12 also.

Can you shoot any other bullet than a round ball in your cva hawkin's .50 caliber rifle?

You should be able to use Maxi-balls, as well as saboted bullets. You need to see how accurate they will be- the rate of twist may be wrong for them.

What type of bullet to shoot out of m4 commando?

M4 Commando? Is that some video game weapon? The M4 carbine and variants (such as the CQBR) use the 5.56 cartridge. Standard is 62 grains, although heavier grain bullets are recommended for shorter barrel lengths. Colt did market a 9x19mm variant of the CAR-15 under the name "Commando", but it's not considered an M4 variant.

What are striations how are they produced and how are they useful for comparing bullets?

When a bullet is pushed through a rifled barrel, the rifling (lines cut into the inside of the barrel in a spiral) makes scratch marks on the bullet. No two guns make the exact same scratches. It is possible to examine the scratch marks, on two bullets and see if they could have been fired from the same gun. This uses a device called a comparison microscope.

What do cannonballs look like?

They can have several different appearances. The first cannonballs were round balls of stone. Later they wear made of iron. They came in different sizes, from as small as 2 inches up to about 36 inches. Later the cannon ball (shot) was replaced by cannon shell, which looked a bit large a large can of food with a pointy end. While cannon balls (or shot) wwere usually solid, shells were hollow, filled with gunpowder, and exploded after being fired.

What is more powerful a slug or a rifle bullet?

rifle bullet

Assuming you mean the slug as a form of shotgun load, then, it depends. The slug is significantly heavier than a typical .30 caliber (7.62mm) rifle round, and the sabot nature of the slug load for a shotgun produces a reasonable amount of muzzle velocity (though, less than a quarter that of a typical rifle).

Due to the nature of shotguns, and the lower initial velocity, the slug has significantly shorter range (100m, maybe) than a typical rile (which can be used up to 1000m). Inside that range, however, the slug has enormous energy.

The effectiveness of the slug vs the rifle bullet really depends on the type of target being shot at. The small cross-section and very high velocity of the rifle bullet make it good for punching through thin but strong materials (kevlar, lexan, steel), but poor for thicker materials (including tissue, where rifle bullets tend to make a small hole straight through, but cause little extra damage). A slug's big diameter, much slower speed and high mass make it excellent for penetrating layered materials (e.g. a car doors, masonry, etc.), plus, it causes massive tissue damage.

What could happen if you ran out of ammo while killing zombies?

How many bullets does a Remington gamemaster 30-06 hold?

I think your Remington Model 760 (there were other models also called Gamemaster, but not in 30-06) has a magazine capacity of 4 cartridges.

What is the myth on the Magic Bullet that killed John F. Kennedy?

The theory is that the projectile hit JFK, tumbled, exited at a point of his body much lower than if it had penetrated straight through, and hit the person seated in front of him. Ballistics gel tests of the cartridge used have actually given credibility to this theory, as the Carcano round was proven to tumble upon impact, but still retain enough energy to penetrate through.

Can an iPhone stop a bullet?

It won't stop common pistol rounds such as .38 9mm .40 .45 etc. Most definitely not any rifle rounds. It may stop or slow a lighter caliber such as a .22 but until proven I wouldn't count on it stopping anything.

12/26/2011

we proved a Iphone 4s will stop a .22 cal. bullet at 15 feet. phone was shot in the upper right portion of the back side and the screen shattered but held the round from piercing all the way thru the front.

What does an old bullet casing look like from the minutemen guns?

The Minutemen used muzzle loaded muskets, which used ball and powder. Since no cartridges were used (nor had they been invented by that time), there were no casings.
