To lose weight, you need to diet and exercise. The amount of weight you would lose would depend on amny factors, such how how long / how instense you worked out, the calories you ate, how much you slept, and so on.

Very few anorexics will die as a result of anorexia in the sense of direct starvation. Instead, most death will occur due to organ failure (most commonly the heart), seizure, or rupture stomach / esophogus (as a result of binge/purge). Dying through nasusea or vomiting can also cause dehydration, which can be very serious or fatal if not treated properly. Also, many anorexics do not feel nauseous or sick as a sign of the fatality of the condition.

Certian cultures favor the "thin" look on women more than other cultures do. In places where being thinner is considered to be more successful, beautiful, wealthy, ect., then those cultures tend to have higher rates of eating disorders as more people strive for that look.

the media alternates between glamorizing being extremely thin and bashing, yet at the same time insulting the larger people. People see these people who are seeing extremely thin women in the magazines (whether in a positive or negative portrayal) and think that that is how they are supposed to look, but what the media will not let us on to is just how painful life is for these people. They develop these disorders because there is something wrong with their life, whether it is because they are looked down on for being large or they want some semblance of control in their life and if they eat or not is one way of controlling not only themselves, but other people around them.

In Anorexia, the patient does not consume food and starves herself. In bulimia, the patient overeats and then vomits the food. Most treatment centers will generally address both eating disorders.

It mostly affects the teens, girls more of boys. Teens are so eager to look skinny which is "pretty" instead of chubby which is "ugly." most teens do it because of depression, low self esteem, and there might even be more reasons but I find these to be more common in most teens.

Looking at any one of the morning news shows will tell you this. Most of the anchorwomen are now wearing hose, mostly in sheer, black, or even slightly darker hues in line with the clothes they are wearing.

The days of the bare legged fashions are not over, but many women are realizing that the look of bare legs has it's place, and it's not always kosher to be trendy versus fashion smart and sophisticated.

Sarah Jessica Parker is a great example of the need for hose. Beautiful as she is, she is now showing the definitive signs of aging on her lower calves and feet. Aging, poor dieting, too much sun, and a general look of being way too skinny is now having it's effect on a once beautiful woman who has the feet of a woman at least twenty years her senior.

So, if you enjoy wearing hose or nylons, don't let the so called self appointed fashion experts make the decision for you... choose well, choose wisely, and above all choose what best suits you. Because in the end, that's all that counts.

If you don't enjoy them, then may I suggest you do some serious shopping for some very high quality pantyhose, nylons, or stockings. You may be surprised on how elegant and sexy some of the good ones, other than the corner pharmacy or local Walmart brands may look and feel.

That's impossible to say. Many people die of anorexia, and many survive. It depends on when intervention occurs, how much damage has been done to the organs. Anyone who has anorexia nervosa and is still alive can potentially be helped by medical care. It takes more than medication though. They must be given nutrition, counselling, and the underlying problems must be resolved. Medication might be given to help deal with the psychological issues, and to help with the physical damage caused by long term starvation.

In general: there are many ways in which doctors can help a person with anorexia nervosa. People have been cured of the disorder, and medication may play a part in that, but it's not a magic bullet. There needs to be counselling to help the person get over the underlying psychological problems leading to their obsessive drive to be thin. Yes, it can work, and people can go on to live normal lives.

There are thousands of eating disorder treatment around the world.

To many people, being thin is equal (at least in their minds) to being attractive. To those who follow popular media and fashion, almost all magazine adds, runways shows, models, TV show characters, and celebrities are thin or on the thinner side of average. And almost all of them are generaslly regarded as being successful or attractive. The idea then comes across that being thin will lead to a similar life style.

It's so easy to say JUST EAT but if u have actually had an eating disorder you will know its so much harder than that. You've gotta remember that being anorexic won't make u look any better in fact it will make u look worse! No one likes to se their friends walking around STARVING THEMSELFS and looking like a skeleton and no one wants to hear one day that their friend DIED because she starved herself to death! I know anorexia is hard to control but think of it this way, your friends will be happier and less worried and stressed if STOP BEING ANOREXIC! If u are scared of being fat and that your friends won't like u if u get fat, well if they are really your friends they don't care what u look like but they do care about your well being. The easiest way to get back to normal eating is to eat a little more day by day until u consume 1000 calories a day, it's probably better than needing to be HOSPITALIZED like I did. If u wanna keep a slim figure don't go back to starving yourself, eating more can actually help u loose weight and get more of a figure. Remember it's impossible to be FLAWLESS so don't strive to be flawless.
