An antheap is another term for an anthill - a cone-shaped formation of soil and earth formed by ants and termites, under which the colony nests.
Yes but an ant farm is better, you get clean dirt with it and you can see all their galleries since sides are so close together.

What is the mixture of lemon juice to kill ants?
A mixture of lemon juice cannot be used to kill ants.
Sorry, I wrote the following material without signing in. Anyone who can correct this, please do. (Jon Richfield)
In most species of ants the soldiers do not do much work like feeding the larvae or building the nest, or even storing food as the repletes of honeypot ants do. Soldiers of many species of ants don't even have jaws that permit them to feed themselves at all; they have to beg food from their nest-mates.
What is more, in some species of ants, like some species of Pheidole, in which the "soldiers" have large heads and big jaws, the soldiers are of no obvious use at all, fleeing danger while the workers do the fighting,
However, in most species of ants that have a "soldier caste", those soldiers do most of the fighting when there is some creature such as a large animal or a swarm of enemy ants attacking the nest. Soldiers of some species of ants have stings or squirts of formic acid or other nasty chemicals that they use for fighting the enemy, and nearly all soldier ants bite too. Some other kinds of soldier ants just bite. This they do while the workers grab as many larvae and eggs as they can and carry them to safety if possible.
The soldiers of at least some kinds of "army ants" join the workers when they go out hunting for animals to eat. They have huge jaws and not only help killing prey animals, but in tearing or cutting them up.
Some kinds of soldier ants have big heads with very heavy armour, with which they completely block the entrances to the nests, so that even if they don't do any actual fighting, they stop all sorts of enemies from getting in. This is a useful thing to do, because it also helps in keeping out small species of thief ants and other small parasites that otherwise could sneak in and out between the ants' legs without being noticed.
What are the little black bugs that have a curled tail that points upward and an ant- like head?
The bugs didn't seem to have a segmented abdomen, in fact, it looked quite smooth. I don't think it has wings or else it could have flown away. Please answer.
Why does an ant has a hard outer covering?
A hard outer covering protects an insect's soft body and gives the insect its shape.
What kind of abiotic and biotic resources do leafcutter ants need?
The resources that any species needs are far too many to list in detail. After reading the following, it will probably do you good to try to add new items to the list yourself.
1: Abiotic resources would include water, air, sunlight (if you think that ants do not need sunlight, ask yourself why leafcutter ants do not occur in caves or even in deep valleys where the sun does not shine), suitable soil, (bear in mind that soil is only partly abiotic), temperature and climate in general (ask yourself how many reasons there are why leafcutter ants occur only in the tropics) and nutrient minerals such as nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, to mention just three.
2: Biotic resources would include enough food plants for the ants to gather, and enough of the right kinds of fungi to digest their collected leaves and convert them into suitable food for the ants. It also might include enough natural enemies to keep the natural enemies of the ants under control. Ants can't spend all their time fighting anteaters and Phorid flies.
Now you try to add a few to those 2 lists.
What weighs more a fly or an ant?
Ants and flies are both insects, but that is about as much as they are like each other. Ants are descended from certain kinds of wasps and if you carefully compare the build of an ant and a wasp, you can see that they are very much alike; in fact some kinds of ants, especially the flying ants, look very much like wasps, and some kinds of wasps look very much like ants. Many ants, like many wasps, have stings, and most wasps, like most ants, can bite.
Flies do however differ from wasps, just as humans differ from horses, though both of us are mammals. Flies don't have stings, and they cannot bite, though some kinds, like horse flies and mosquitoes, have piercing mouthparts that they can stick through your skin to suck blood. Ants cannot do that, because their mouthparts are cutting or crushing jaws like pincers.
Flying ants each have four wings like most wasps and most other flying insects, and in a way, so do flies, but the flies are in the order Diptera (which means "two-winged ones"). In fact, flying flies do have four wings, not two, but their hind wings have shrunk into little clubs we call "halteres". When they fly, flies swing their halteres like tiny gyroscopes. They use those "gyroscopes" to keep their balance, and use their front wings for flying, much as we use our hind legs for walking and our front legs (which we call "arms") for balance (among other things).
So you could say that the difference between a horse and a human is much like the difference between a flying ant (or other type of wasp) and a fly.
Would an ant die if you dropped it out of a plane?
no it wouldn't because there would be so much air drag that it would slow down enough to survive the impact.
ANS2:Yes, it would. It would be so far from its nest that it would never find it. It would soon die from starvation or by being eaten. ANS3:It would depend on where it was dropped. If you drop it out of a plane and the ant falls into a lake, pond, river or ocean, it will likely drown or be eaten by a fish. Likewise, being dropped onto a glacier or in the middle of a desert will both shorten its life. ANS4:It would depend on the type of ant. Some ants fly while some ants serve as living water jugs (repletes). If you drop a honey ant replete a few inches it will burst like a water balloon. ANS5:If you drop it out of a plane, it will die. If you don't drop it out of a plane, it will die. Worker ants have a fairly short life span. Queen ants can live for decades but, they all die.Do tiny black ants tend to bite on the face?

Are ants found in cold places?
LONG AND HARD ANSWER: Although ants can be seen in various places from spring to autumn, they go into hibernation in the winter. In addition, from spring to autumn, many ants are seen to come from, and go into, the entrances of their nests, but these entrances are closed in winter and no ants are seen to come from there.
Where do ants pass the winter?
The body temperature of ants changes in response to the atmospheric temperature. In winter, their body temperature falls so greatly that their movements inevitably grow sluggish. Therefore, they hibernate restlessly in relatively warm places, such as the soil or under the bark of trees.
Most species of ants eat a large amount of food in autumn to put on fat, thereby allowing them to go without food through the winter.
The entrance to the ant nest nests is closed as a natural result of the slowdown and cessation of ant traffic. Furthermore, soil or sand has accumulated around the entrance. When spring comes and it gets warmer, the ants become active and open up the entrance of their nest to venture outside.
SHORT AND EASY ANSWER: So, ants are usually found in hot places, but they could be found in cold places aswell. Although, they hibernite during winter, but anyways, all I'm saying is that you could find ants in hot AND cold places.
Hope this helped! Love,
Rocio
