The United States' Apollo 11 was the first manned mission to land on the Moon, on 20 July 1969.
How many Americans have landed on the moon?
Twelve Americans have walked on the moon as part of the Apollo missions between 1969 and 1972.
When did neil Armstrong land on moon?
Most famous Neil Armstrong. You may have heard his name now and then for he was first to step on Moon. Out of all the 12 people who have been on the Moon he was the first. It was exactly July 20th 1969 when he stepped on our most amazing Moon as he said "One small step for man and one giant leap for man kind". Armstrong was 39 years of age when he landed on Moon therefore he got born on August 5th 1930, what makes him now 78 years old.
What note did Neil Armstrong leave on the Moon?
As far as we have been able to ascertain Neil Armstrong did not leave a note behind on the Moon, if he did then it has been kept very quiet for almost 40 years.
Buzz Aldrin carried a Silicon Disc, with messages from over 73 different countries to be dropped on the surface of the Moon along with a gold Olive Branch, Aldrin almost forgot to drop the disc, which he carried in a pocket sewn on his suit glove.
Also there was a Plaque on the bottom half of the LM (which is still on the moon's surface today)
The plaque reads:
HERE MEN FROM THE PLANET EARTH
FIRST SET FOOT UPON THE MOON
JULY 1969, A.D.
WE CAME IN PEACE FOR ALL MANKIND.
What year did nasa land on the moon?
NASA first landed astronauts on the moon in 1969 as part of the Apollo 11 mission. Commander Neil Armstrong and lunar module pilot Buzz Aldrin became the first humans to walk on the moon's surface on July 20, 1969.
How did you land on the moon and why cant we land there again?
The rockets required to lift a spacecraft able to make a moon landing off of the earth are very different than the rockets required to lift the Space Shuttle, and even satellites, into Low Earth Orbit.
The technology to rebuild the Saturn V rockets used during the Apollo missions still exists, however, the infrastructure that existed during that time no longer does. We stopped building the rockets, so there was no reason to keep the tooling and construction supplies.
Today, when it's said that we "do not have the ability to go to the moon" it's because the rockets that are currently being built are not designed to go to the moon. When the Constellation program started, the purpose was not to simply recreate the Saturn V and mimic the Apollo program. NASA intended to lift significantly heavier space- and landing-craft, with the ability to carry up to 7 crew members to the moon, and stay there for a week. This was a drastic increase in the weight and technology requirements over the Apollo program. Simply said, the technology that was invented in the mid 60's and used to send three men to the moon and keep two of them alive on the surface for three days no longer applied. We had to reinvent the whole platform, using modern techniques and modern materials. We do have the technology to land on the moon today, but the extreme cost of the project and the limited scientific benefit makes it a project that will likely not be repeated for some time. We may land on Mars before we land on the moon again!
How many Apollo moon landings were there?
There were six (6) as follows with the first date being the launch date in each instance:

What date did the first man land on the moon?
On July 20, 1969 Armstrong and Aldrin became the first humans to land on the Moon, while Collins orbited in the Command Module.
When did they land on the moon?
There were 6 manned moon landings:
Apollo 11 was the first to land on the moon, on July 20th 1969. Apollo 12 was the second, on November 19th 1969.
Apollo 14 was the third, on February 5th 1971.
Apollo 15 was the fourth on July 30th 1971.
Apollo 16 was the fifth on April 16th 1972.
Apollo 17 was the sixth and last on December 11th 1972.
What country was the first to land on the moon?
The United States was the first country to land on the moon with the Apollo 11 mission on July 20, 1969. Astronauts Neil Armstrong and Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin became the first humans to walk on the lunar surface.
How may Apollo missions have landed people on the moon?
12 people landed on the moon; they were all from the Apollo programme because America were the only ones who landed on the moon
Apollo 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, and 17.
Additional Interesting Information:
Apollo 10 went to the moon and descended the Lunar Module (LM) to several thousand feet short of a landing, but did not touch down. NASA had actually not filled the Ascent Module with enough fuel for them to land, just in case they got the urge to do land, against the flight plan. This was done as a preparatory step for the next mission, Apollo 11, where Neil Armstrong actually executed the first touch down on the moon with only 17 seconds to spare in his fuel tank. Buzz Aldrin was the pilot that accompanied Armstrong on this historic voyage: "That's one small step for (a) man, one giant leap for mankind.'
Apollo 13 suffered an explosion in transit and was forced to abort its landing and luckily returned to the Earth safely. It has been called by NASA as its greatest successful failure. Actually, Apollo 13's explosion was a coil in the oxygen tank that had been crippled 2 years before launch, so on April, 13, 1970, when Jack Swigert flipped the switch to stir the oxygen tanks, the coil caused a spark and exploded the tank and tore apart a section of the service module, as well .
The moon landing was very real, for one simple reason
1. If you have a good enough telescope you can look at the moon and see on the surface Neil Armstrong's footprint, and since there is nothing to blow it away, it will stay there until a meteor smashes on it.
What did the first person on the moon say?
" That's one small step for [a] man. One giant leap for mankind"
Story goes Neil stuffed it up first time round and said "Thats one small step for mankind. Once giant leap for..." and quickly did a second quote the correct way.
How ever, a hacker recently recovered the "a".
When have there been moon landings?
There have been six manned moon landings between 1969 and 1972 as a part of NASA's Apollo program. These missions successfully landed astronauts on the moon and brought them back safely to Earth.
In which decade did Neil Armstrong walk on the moon?
It was in 1969, which means it was in the seventhdecade.
Who was the first man to go to the moon?
Three men were the first to go to the "vicinity" of the Moon, on the Apollo 8 mission that orbited the Moon on December 24, 1968. The astronauts were Frank Borman, James Lovell, and Willliam Anders.
After Apollo 10 successfully orbited to test the Lunar Lander in May, 1969, the Apollo 11 mission became the first to take men to the lunar surface.
Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landed the Eagle at the Sea of Tranquility basin on July 20, 1969. Armstrong was the first man to set foot on the Moon, followed by Aldrin. Between 1969 and 1972, five more missions landed on the surface, for a total of 12 men who explored on the lunar surface.
Did man really walk on the moon?
Yes they did. Those space suits cost millions of dollars for a reason. People who do not believe this happened just really do not know much about science at all.
It's clear that 500,000 people can't keep a secret. The whole hoax idea started from some people who did not know enough about science to understand what the photos were showing, and so assumed the photos were fake! But if you go to badastronomy.com or clavius.org these simple mistakes are explained in such a way that the "hoax" idea no longer makes any sense... not that it ever really did!
What did Neil Armstrong do after landing?
I assume you mean after he got home? Mr. Armstrong pretty much disappeared to a farm in Ohio. He gives very few interviews, which conspiracy theorists take to mean that he (nor anyone else in 1969) got to the moon at all. He has been exploited by many people and prefers to limit his public appearances.
If you are referring to what Armstrong and Aldrin did immediately after the landing, then there were a number of processes to attend to in order to prepare for the moonwalk. The lander also had to be configured in order for a quick take-off if necessary. They also ate a meal.
What were the names of the crew members of Apollo 13?
The three members of the Apollo 13 were: (Commander) James A Lovell, (Lunar module pilot) Fred Haise, and (Command module pilot) John L 'Jack' Swigert. The command module pilot was originally Thomas 'Ken' Mattingly. However he was exposed to German Measles and so was unable to go on the mission. He was replaced by Jack Swigert.
Interestingly, Mattingly never did get German measles, but did play a very important role, along with many others, by working with ground crew to help them devise a plan to bring the crew back safely.
