I wish I knew. I'm trying to find out for a science project and I have no idea. Does anyone else know?
Please answer!
If you are talking about Appaloosa horses they eat the same things that all other horses eat, hay, chaff, oats, corn, barley, grass
A POA (or pony of the amercas) is a small pony breed, around 12-14hh, while an appaloosa is a different breed of spotted horse.
So mainly they're different breeds

An Appaloosa is a bread of horse that has a leopard-spotted coat pattern.
it matters on the horses, some could have as little as five and others can have hundreds
Today modern Appaloosas look like Quarter horses in overall build. Stocky and muscular with Appaloosa type spotting or roaning. The old style of 'True' Appaloosa is rarely seen nowadays but it was built much more like an Akhal-Teke type horse, for old style Appy's you can look up Nez Perce horses.
depends on there history, but if you get them when they are little, then veyr friendly:)
Pony of Americas (POA) are under 14.2 hh. Appaloosas are 14.2 hh and above
A:The proper name for a horses' white coat is Grey. It's actually not pure white.
-From ThehorseGal&Advisor (Horstastic editor)
they have natural jumping in them, some of them take forever to train but they can go as high as you want them to, just gain must trust and work with them very much
An Appaloosas tail length is determined by genetics and how the horse is cared for. Many of the Appaloosas from older bloodlines have what is called a 'rat tail' as it has little to no hair on it, and what hair may be thee is typically thin, wispy and short.
However modern Appaloosas tend to have fuller and longer tails thanks to the Quarter horse, Thoroughbred and Arabian blood that was introduced to the breed when it was being 're-created'.
If the white spots are confined mainly to the back and rump, it's a blanket. If they are scattered all over it, it's a snowflake.
They are simply two different breeds, originating from different parents and other breeds. They have different bloodlines.
The American Appaloosa was developed by the Nez Perce tribe of the Pacific Northwest. They selectively bred and culled their herds of horses until they got a horse that was enduring, tough, and colorful, they were built similarly to the Thoroughbred. After the tribe surrendered the US army destroyed much of the tribes herd and crossed many others with draft horses. Some ranchers liked the spotted horses and tried to save them. They bred some to Arabians, Thoroughbreds and Quarter Horses in an effort to bulk up the numbers, but in doing so change the breed completely.
The Appaloosa breed was originally bred in the Inland northwest of America by the Nez Perce Indians.
It would totally depend on the genetics of the Appaloosa and whether they were homozygous or heterozygous for certain things. wtf kinda question is this?!?!?!?!!?!?
Holy Smoke, I believe. Loved that movie!
That horse was the director's idea. He was very flashy but was an airhead and John Wayne hated him. I think this was the movie where JW backed that Appaloosa over a wooden bridge. I don't know if this is correct but I think they had to replace that horse 1/2 way through the filming because it was such an idiot. add: I'm thinking the director was Howard Hawkes and I had heard that he actually owned that particular horse. Don't know if that is true or not.
That particular horse belonged to the director Howard Hawkes. Although the horse, named Chocise, was flashy and appearently well-trained, Wayne didn't like the horse at all. I believe they had to replace the horse mid-shoot (El Dorado) and had much trouble finding a look-a-like to fill in.
An appaloosa is a breed of hors with spots, not a movie. If so, you should be much more specific with your question.
According to the American Film Institutes Catalogue of Motiton pictures, it seems that "Holy Smoke" may not just be the fictional name of the equine character, but the name of the actual horse itself. The trainer is listed as Jimmy Williams. The film was released in 1966.
If this is the case, the horse in question *may* be an Appaloosa born in 1955 named "Holy Smoke" (Biltofts Chico x Christy). The full pedigree in question can be found on the all breed pedigree online site by searching "Holy Smoke Appaloosa". However, I can find no photo of this particular horse with which to confirm.
