What happens when you throw a ball into the air?
ANSWER.
Well, this is a weird question. But, depending on how you feel about softball, after you throw a ball, you're so worried on how the throw is going to go, and you're very anxious usually thinking, was that good, was that bad. So, you're just anxious until you find out, if it was a good pitch or a good throw. Depending on if you're pitching or just throwing the ball to someone on the field.
When did Major League Baseball adopt the 15 and 60 day disabled list rule?
The 7-day Disabled List was first in effect for the 2011 Major League Baseball season. The 7-day Disabled List is only for Major League Baseball players that have concussions that will need a few days to recover. Major League Baseball's Medical Director needs to receive a medical report for all players that have been placed on the 7-day DL and then the Medical Director for Major League Baseball will have to give his approval before the player can be activated.
What is the difference between a strike and a strike out?
A strike is based on the workers refusing to work in an effort to accomplish financial and personal gains from their employers.
A lockout is basically the other way around. The employers refuse the workers the opportunity to work in an effort to force financial redirection and compliance.
NFL -- A lockout is caused by the owners standing together against the players, whereas a strike is the players standing together refusing to play.
Either way, both sides are trying to accomplish goals based on their own needs, and or, wants.
Can a baseball perfect game be less than 9 innings?
Well in a full 9 Inning Game each time makes 27 outs. (3 outs for 9 innings). Thus combined the teams make 54 outs. So if every player swung and hit very first pitch and every pitch was an out that would be 54 pitches combined with both teams pitchers. However that would end in a 0-0 tie so it would go into extra innings so it wouldn't be a complete game. Thus if you say ONE player hit a first pitch and hit a home run on a first pitch to give his team a 1-0 lead and thus a complete nine inning game then it would be 55 pitches.
However that would mean that both pitchers would have to be PERFECT and COMPLETELY ACCURATE. and the Hitters would have to swing and HIT every FIRST pitch so its almost completely impossible.
Abbreviation for a batter that receives four balls?
When a batter gets 4 balls and is walked it is scored "BB" for base on balls
Yes. As long as he doesn't leave the dirt around home plate. Rule 6.09(b) Comment: A batter who does not realize his situation on a third strike not caught, and who is not in the process of running to first base, shall be declared out once he leaves the dirt circle surrounding home plate."[1] 1. ^ http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/official_info/official_rules/batter_6.jsp
Has there ever been a perfect game longer than 9 innings?
The maximum batters to come to the plate without scoring a run is six. First three batters get on base. Fourth batter strikes out, as does the fifth batter and the sixth batter flys out to end the inning. Zero runs score. The minimum runs scored for nine batters in an inning would be three.
Which base can there be a forced run?
When a runner is on a base that a batter or another base runner is required to run to, the former is forced to run to the next base. Two examples and a counter-example:
1) A runner begins the play on first base, and the ball is batted fair. Since the batter is required to go to first base, the runner that began on that base is forced to go to second base, and remains required to do so until the batter is out.
2) Runners begin the play on first base and on second base, and the ball is batted fair. As noted in example (1), the runner on first base is forced to go to second. Thus, the runner that began on second is now forced to go to third base. If either the batter or the runner that began on first base become out, then this requirement is cancelled.
3) A runner begins the play on third base, and the ball is batted fair. The runner MAY advance from third towards home, but is not FORCED to do so. That's because the batter is only required to run to first, and there is no requirement that the runner on third leave his base.
Why do they call it home plate?
The earliest baseball bases were circular objects of all kinds, including plates, which suggested "home plate" itself. So the word dish continues the analogy, even though bases are no longer round.
if the cathcer is too close, a cather interference, if the batter is too far back, a batter interference
Must a pitcher have both feet on the pitchers plate?
The pitcher must have his pivot foot touching the pitching rubber when he starts his windup. A right handers pivot foot is the right foot and a left handers pivot foot is the left foot.
Anytime a third strike is dropped the runner can advance to first unless he is tagged or the ball is thrown to first before he reaches.
Yes, the play ends, the batter is awarded first base, and the runner that was hit is automatically out.
What does onb mean in base ball?
I can't think of nor find anything that explains what ONB stands for, unless it's On Base, which is really OBP, and it stands for On Base Percentage. If anybody else has sommething, please update.
Overrunning first base after a hit. ater reaching can a runner turn left?
Yes, anytime a runner turns towards 2nd he has "made an attempt to advance" and can be tagged out like any other baserunner. When running to first if you over run the base you will want to either turn to the right and go into foul territory to return to 1st base or turn directly around and go back to 1st base, in these instances, even if you are tagged you are NOT out. If you take even one step to the left towards 2nd, and you are tagged going back to 1st base you ARE out
With runners on 2nd and 3rd if the batter gets hit by a pitch can the runner on 3rd advance home?
No. When a batter is hit by a pitch, the ball is dead and no runners may advance.
However, if the bases were loaded, then all runners are forced to advance and the runner from third would score.
What is the number of each fielding position in baseball?
There are nine positions on a baseball field.
The infield consists of first base, second base, shortstop, and third base.
The outfield consists of left field, center field, and right field.
The battery consists of the pitcher and the catcher.
Yes all the other bases are a force out. The runner going to first forces the runner at first to second. The runner at first forces the runner at second to third. The runner at second forces the runner at third to home. You only have to tag the runner when a runner that was "forcing" you (from a previous base) is out.
In the scenario you have mentioned the only time the third baseman would have had to tag the runner from second to third would be if the initial force out was behind the runner at either at first or second (the putout thus not forcing the runner from second to third, which would now require a tag. If the initial force out was at first or second, the runner on second would have the choice of going to third or retreating to second, and not "forced" to run. Since the initial force out was at home, the runner from second to third is still being "forced" to run by the runners behind him.
Make sense?
Why doesnt a ball sink into the ground?
Gravity. Sinkers go toward the ground faster because the spin put on them causes more air resistance on the top of the ball, pushing it downwards. Curve-balls and sliders also use air resistance to change direction or "break." A fastball stays straighter because the air resistance actually counter-acts gravity, pushing the ball upwards. Gravity is stronger though, and fastballs still sink a little bit.
Does an error count as an at bat?
Yes an error counts as an at bat, but not a hit. You would be 0 for 1 on the play, but your on base percentage goes up because you have reached base safely. Errors can be committed on sacrifice bunts and sacrifice flies. If the official scorer rules a play a sacrifice bunt/fly and an error, the batter is not charged with a time at bat. On base percentage goes down when reaching base on an straight error.
A pitch which hits the dirt often becomes discolored or has scuff marks on it due to the nature of the soil material around home plate. This happens at a fairly high rate of speed A batted ball in the infield usually hits grass first and at an angle that these scuff marks do not occur. A ball that is chopped and hits the HP circle is taken out of play. This is more so in the major league ranks, then in HS, college, or low minor leagues, where baseballs are at a premium.
What are the qualities of a good first baseman in baseball?
What makes a good baseball player? To have a good baseball player takes 5 things: 1.To always have a positive attitude. 2.Always showing leadership. 3.Doing the best he can do. 4.Practicing everyday even when there is no team practice or game 5.Finally,having pride whether you lose or win and having great sportsmanship. Its not about skill its about the 5 things i said and you may think im like a hippie trying to make peace but look these things are true.It doesnt matter if you can pitch 103MPPH like Stephen Stratsburgh or pitch 62MPH like me.
Is there a limit on how many foul balls a hitter can hit in one at bat?
Not as far as I know. In the 1960's I observed a Major League game where a batter fouled off 21 consecutive pitches.
Can an uninjured pitcher be substituted in the middle of a count?
Yes.
However, rules state a pitcher must pitch one complete at bat before being taken out of the game (unless the pitcher gets injured and cannot continue). So, as long as the batter being pitched to is not the first batter the pitcher is facing, the pitcher may be removed in the middle of the count.
