Is a batted ball fair or foul if it strikes a runner while he is on base?
It depends. If a runner is in foul territory, and is hit with a batted ball, before the batted ball reaches 1B or 3B, then it's foul. But if a batted ball hits a runner in fair territory, before passing an infielder other than the pitcher, time is called, the ball is dead, and the runner is declared out for interference. The batter is awarded 1B, but all other runners must return to the base they previously occupied.
How do you re-enter a player who has been substituted?
When a player has been substituted, he cannot be placed back in the game. The only time a player can stay in the game is if he is moved to another fielding position. The moment he is removed from the batting lineup, he is removed from the game. In the American League, the pitcher is not in the batting lineup, but the moment he is substituted on the mound he is out of the game.
Are high school baseball players allowed to use pine tar?
im pretty sure it is To be honest, I've never seen it addressed in any set of youth rules anywhere. I don't know that it's really necessary. I also don't know that it would be of issue, other than somebody who just wants to bellyache about the rules. It really kind of makes a mess and gets on everything, but I can't see that it would be of any real benefit or detriment to use it. If you want to try it, they make clear now that maybe won't get noticed as much and won't be so ugly when it gets on everything. it is fine i use it all the time just keep it away from where the ball hits the bat or could possibly hit
The batter is only out on a dropped third strike when there are less than two outs and first base was occupied at the start of the pitch. With two outs the batter may take first base on a dropped third strike even if it was occupied at the start of the pitch.
How many baseball teams are in America?
There are two leagues:American and National. American League has 14 teams and the National League has 16. They both have three divisions of 4-6 teams:East, Central, and West. Here are the teams in each division:
AL East- New York Yankees(NYY), Boston Red Sox(BOS), Tampa Bay Rays(TB), Toronto Blue Jays(TOR), Baltimore Orioles(BAL)
AL Central-Minnesota Twins9MIN), Chicago White Sox(CHW), Detriot Tigers(DET), Kansas City Royals(KC), Cleveland Indians(CLE)
AL West-Texas Rangers(TEX), Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim(LAA), Oakland Athletics(OAK), Seattle Mariners(SEA)
NL East-Philadelphia Phillies(PHI), New York Mets(NYM), Atlanta Braves(ATL), Washington Nationals(WAS), Florida Marlins(FLA)
NL Central-St. Louis Cardinals(STL), Cincinnati Reds(CIN), Chicago Cubs(CHC), Milwaukee Brewers(MIL), Houston Astros(HOU), Pittsburgh Pirates(PIT)
NL West-Los Angeles Dodgers(LAD), San Francisco Giants(SF), Colorado Rockies(COL), San Diego Padres(SD), Arizona Diamondbacks(ARI)
The major difference of the two leagues is in the National League, the pitcher whoever is in must bat, but in the American League they have a hitter who takes the pitchers spot in the lineup and is known as the Designated Hitter. The thing to know about it is the Designated Hitter(DH) does not play the field and stays in the dugout and he only bats. Hopefully this all helps you out.
Can little league president coach?
No, the Little League rule book specifically prohibits this. In fact, it goes so far as to say the president can't resign his position and coach a tournament team in the same season.
Are teams permitted to add players to their rosters during the playoffs?
Most leauges have a cutoff date of eligibility. For example, Major league Baseball players must be on their team's roster by September 1st in order to be considered for the playoffs. Players added after that date would only be eligible in case of a rash of injuries, which of course no one would wish for.
According to the rules of baseball if a right handed pitcher is going to make a move to first base while his pivot foot (right) is in contact with the rubber his left foot's FIRST MOVE must be toward first. It is not necessary to step off the rubber but the pitcher cannot raise his left foot as if to make a pitch and then spin and throw to first. What is important to know on this subject is that while in contact with the rubber with his pivot foot the pitcher is a pitcher. once the pitcher steps behind the rubber he is no longer the pitcher. He becomes an infielder! What's the difference? If a "pitcher" attemps a throw to first or third and the throw goes out of play all runners advance ONE base from the base they were on when the play started. When a fielder throws a ball out of play all runners get TWO bases from the base they were on when the play started. As crazy as that sounds, that is what happens all the time but it is called incorrectly. You hear "one base on an overthrow" but the reality is that when a ball is batted and the shortstop throws it out of play the BATTER who started at home plate goes to second. That is TWO bases from where he was when the play started!! In addition when a ball is thrown out of play by an outfielder then the runners are awarded TWO bases from the base they had possession of AT THE TIME OF THE THROW. This would also apply to any throw made by an infielder AFTER all runners and the batter have reached one base safely. (ex. relay throw) ---- I am so glad to see someone get this right! I believe that the popularity of the jump step, which is a quicker, better move, has many people believing that it's the only way the rules allow. But if you watched baseball in the 50's and 60's most righthanded pitchers DID NOT use the modern jump step. They stepped towards first-base while pivoting on their rightfoot never disengaging the rubber!! I used that move for more than 20 years of highschool, college and semi-pro baseball. And I only had a few balks called and they were for other infractions!
How do you score a missed base by a runner?
Well in baseball you score runs. There is many ways you can score a run. Here are some ways: 1.) Homerun, 2.) A triple and then someone hits a single/double/homerun/sac fly, 3.) Two doubles in a row, 4.) A single and then a triple or homerun, and 5.) A batter gets a triple and then the pitcher throws a wild pitch and the runner scores.
the technical answer is to have a runner or a batter/runner touch home plate safely after touching all 3 bases in order 1st 2nd 3rd than touch home before 3 outs are recorded
There are many ways to score in baseball.
Can a pop fly be a sacrifice if its hit into foul territory?
yes, if it is a fly ball and it gets caught, any base runner can try to go to the next base. for example, a runner on third tags up on a fly ball. the right fielder catches it in foul territory. as long as the runner on third is on the base or goes back and touches it after leading off, she can try to steal home.
Does a relief pitcher who allows inherited runners to score receive a blown save?
I don't think it's a save situation if a pitcher comes in with runners on...
But even if it is, then it is indeed a blown save. He gave up the run even if it is unearned. He was expected to close the game out / earn a save and he blew it.
Yes he is. His ERA wouldn't be affected, but if he gives up the tying run under any circumstances, he is charged with a blown save.
What is the size limit for a bat in little league baseball?
There is no bat size in high school softball that you must have just pick what size you think fits you best
Can a pitcher pause in middle of windup?
Yes...and no. Under OBR Rules (those which also govern MLB) and under NCAA rules, as long as the pitcher steps directly to the base without beginning a motion associated with his pitching motion, it is legal to pick from the windup. Under FED Rules (High School), the pitcher must disengage first.
Yes it is and coaches may not warm up a pitcher before innings either,
How many outs in each inning in softball?

What is a complete game in High School baseball?
It looks like you're asking what a complete baseball game is.
A full game is played in 9 innings, considering there is no tie, but during bad weather or any other phenomenon that may end a game early, a game is considered a complete game after the 5th inning and the score is final if ended from then on.
Can a runner advance from first or second on a caught foul ball?
Runners can advance in any case even with 2 outs. The batter is different. If first base is occupied with less than 2 outs then the batter cannot advance but everyone else can... It would be more of a steal than drop strike though. If there are 2 outs and he strikes out on a dropped strike, the batter is allowed to advance with a runner already occupying first. In any other case you can go whenever you please
How fast should a 13 year old pitch?
I coach a 13U traveling team made up of the best 12 and 13 year olds in the city of 1.2M where I live. The first thing you have to do when it comes to pitching speed is distinguish between "crow hop" speed and "live batter" speed. Crow hop is taking a few steps and launching the ball with maximum velocity, but without much regard for location control. The best 12 year old I coached could hit 70mph on crow hop, and I expect he'll be closer to 80mph when he's about to turn 14 years of age. No one throws that fast when pitching against a live batter, either in a game situation or in pens, because you need control to ensure you are efective in getting batters out. So, the 12 year old who crow hops 70mph will hit 63-65 mph with decent control in games. I expect when he's 13 he'll pitch with control in the low-mid 70s. This kid is tall and skinny, very dedicated to the sport, and has a competitive streak second to none. If he keeps it up, and avoids injury, he's solid college material.
Can a pitcher throw to unoccupied base?
If a pitcher steps off the rubber they can do absolutely anything they want. It makes them just like any other player.
What are the most runners thrown out by catcher?
Duke Farrell, Washington (NL) threw out 8 on May 11, 1897.
AL record is held by Wally Schang of the Philadelphia A's with 6 on May 12, 1916.
What kind of chalk is in white bag on pitchers mound?
The white bag is full of chalk for better grip with the ball!
I will assume you mean when a batter has hit a ground ball to an infielder and the throw to first pulls the first baseman off the bag. On any force play, and the above would be considered a force play since the batter is forced to run when (s)he hits the ball, the batter would be called out because it is only necessary to have full possession of the ball and touch the base before the runner does.
