Yes, you can ( i have before myself) I was on Subutex for six years and did four 8mg/day and it would keep me from sleeping so I would take 6 goody powder pm's to go to sleep every night ( the active ingredient in any over the counter sleep aid is Benadryl). However, I know know that the excess amount I took was not good. Luckily, I never died from it, but you should at least ask a pharmacist or a DR. to be sure!

Benadryl is Primarily an antihistamine, although it possesses some anticholinergic and (maybe) some dopaminergic activity. So if a patient is on compazine or promethazine these drugs will block dopamine at the receptor, causing EPS. I can't find anything online to definitively answer this question, but this was my experienc last night: I took a Zicam before bed, then about twenty minutes later took two Benadry. I woke up hot and cold and twitchy. Then I threw up a ton and felt a lot better. Not sure how much of this was the combo of the medicine or some mystery ailment, but my stomach hasn't bothered me since last night, so I'm inclined to think it has something to do with the medicine I took.

Funny thing, i just called my vet this a.m. to ask that very question. My LuLu weighs 10 lbs. and the vet's instructions were 1/2 the children's benadryl tablet. We have such a hard time getting her to take it. So I called to ask the vet this morning about dosage of the liquid form.....he said 1/2 of the dosage stated for children. I'll be getting the liquid form today. We all love our dogs, don't we! Good Luck.

Many drug users will take any drug they can get their hands on, often having no idea what drugs they are. They will take pills from purses they find or bottles in bathroom cabinets of people they visit. They are looking for something that will blot out reality or relax them or give them a buzz of any kind.
