All piercings hurt to some extent. It really depends on the persons pain tolerance not really their age.

Even if they did do body piercings beyond ears at Walmart, which I have never heard of, you would not want something that serious done there. No one at Walmart is trained to use anything but those shoddy piercing guns, which should not even be used on ears as they can not be sterilized (sterilized, as in completely germ free, not sanitized, as in wiped off with alcohol which doesn't kill all forms of bacteria) and piercing studs are (A) not sharp enough to pierce without doing excessive damage and (B) not properly sized to allow for the swelling some people experience in their ear lobe, let alone the kind you will have with a navel. Navel piercings are among the hardest piercings to heal properly when done by a professional with appropriate tools and jewelry, so would you really want to trust it to someone who has no idea what they're doing, using a tool that could very well be harboring some horrible disease, with jewelry that you will end up having to have surgically removed (because it embeds from being too short) or leaves you with a nasty split scar (after your body pushes the too thin piece of metal wire up through the skin)?

It will be red, swollen, or have discharge. Try not to mess with it too much. A wet hot washcloth set on the piercing then allowed to cool will help. Also wash with a mild disinfectant soap. If it doesn't get better on its own, go see your piercer.

I highly recommend Skincraft which is down on Hamilton Ave. I've had piercings done there and was completely satisfied with them. My piercer even took the time to check out a couple of old piercings I was having some trouble with. I've also had a couple of piercings done at Beelistic in Clifton, it's also well known to be a good piercing place.

Two months is still pretty young, especially for a surface piercing. The length of time you can leave it out also depends on how you heal. Basically, dont leave it out unless you want to risk it closing up. People can have piercings for years and that will close up within and hour.

People who get piercings typically get them because they like the look of them. Although some piercings (like genital piercings) may also serve a purpose.
